Forums - Gaming - PS4 Has More Preorders Than X1 "By Long Shot 150:30(in his store)" says GameStop Manager

PS4 will sell better, the question is by how much. I hope to store manager didn't use the term Xbone, I wouldn't trust his word if he uses that term.

Personally i think the only way this is possible is if that sony just has a lot more stock ready than the xbox one.

You don't think the $100 difference is the biggest reason?  The PS3 at $499-$599 was high priced but it was still supported by its fanbase.  Not as much as the 360, but it was never too far off and it's always been the higher priced console.  I think there are a lot of people out there where price matters over brand and then there are those that might keep the PS4 as their multiconsole system with it being more powerful, us knowing what we know now.

With how good of a job Microsoft did at brainwashing people into thinking Xbox Live is better just because they're paying to use online, something that's no small number, these people are sure to stay loyal to Microsoft and will get an Xbox One before the PS4 and may never get a PS4.  So the Xbox One definitely won't lack in any sales, it's just going to be second place to the Playstation I think.

At launch the price doesnt have anything to do with it as they have both sold out of preorders.  Console launch sales have typically always been determined by supply, not demand as demand is usually far greater than supply.

this just confirm what we already know, ps4 has more preorders than xbox one

70% vs 30% not out of the realm of possibility. That's complete annihilation.

The local MediaMarkt already sold several CoD for PS4 today (nothing on sight for sale for XBox One). This surely proves that there will be 100% vs 0% annihilation here, or do I make a mistake?

Maybe you should stick to whatever you're good at?

So, for the completely irony impaired, here is the sad truth for you:

Both companies have started to mass manufacture their new consoles at roughly around the same time (give or take 1-2 weeks). There are only so many chinese students you can force into chinese factories, so manufacturing capacities are limited. Both companies have a capacity of around 1mio units per month, once the manufacturing runs at full speed. How fast that is achieved is up for discussion, but don't expect a line to manufacture more than a fraction of full capacity in the first 2-3 weeks.

So what we are looking at, coming mid- to end-November is the simple fact that both companies will have roughly the same amount of consoles to sell (unless something went really wrong, which we would probably know by now), very roughly 2.2-2.5mio units, give or take 200-300k. There is no way any console will "annihilate" any other console. Given that Sony has spread out its consoles into a much wider area, I can easily see XBox One actually outselling PS4 in the States by a good margin by end of year, because that is where the future of the entire XBox group lies so they have to keep that territory at all costs (and the costs are high).

Definitely because of price imo.

Why not?  Didn't Microsoft just registered a domain name with "Xbone" in it?

My my how quickly one parts from a ridiculously inept argument. Lmfao

Now I'll address this new bit of illogic.

P1) Equal stock

I'll stop here because this is an assumption. In inductive or deductive reasoning a premise must be true in order for the conclusion to follow absolutely or probably.

You had a half argument at the end about ensuring stock for the US. Seems at the very least to be probable to me.

To be fair, I don't think this had much to do with it, don't get me wrong, it certainly has a "Blast Processing" type marketing tool to it, but I think it was just another way for the rabid PS2 fanboys not having to admit it was the PS3's launch price that made them pull a Seinfeld reaction.

Typical PS2-360 transitionee: "Uh, I got the 360 cus of good online bro"

Me: "Really? I don't see your original Xbox anywhere, and your PS2's HDD bay is looking emptier than the aftermath of a bull in a China shop.."

Them: "uh, online wasn't that big last gen bro"

*I point to Halo 2 still going strong until 2010*

Them: ....

Well it was kind of expected (at least by me). The price tag of the ps4 should be responsible for most of the diffenrece.

But 1 thing that annoys me is that the manager use the term "Xbone".
If the use of the term "Xbone" is a common practice within gamestop sellor than no wonder why the Xbox one preorder are so low in his store.

Okay, I know news is news and it pertains to video games and the people like to discuss but goddam. Not to single this thread out but in all of my years, I've never seen anything like what I'm seeing in terms of Xbox One and PS4. It's like a political smear campaign. Every little thing, no matter how minute and insignificant is being inflated out of proportion.

When I was younger, the games, the price, and the hardware was all that mattered. Now, we attack a company for not giving free consoles to the handicapped. How times have changed.
