I think there are enough games from enough different genres on all three seventh-gen consoles to make a convincing case for any of them, Wii included.

I'm not saying the Wii has a bad library or that what it offers isn't worth the cost (I'm a strong believer that the Wii has more than enough to justify owning it). It's library is just worse than its competition.

Fair enough. But many others disagree. I'm just saying it would be easy to make a convincing case for PS3, X360, or Wii, depending on the consumer's taste in games, genres, and overall design philosophy.

Yea a fight for third place or 5th. Depends

I'm a big PS3 person, but the Wii won. The Wii has SEVEN exclusive games that sold more than 20 million.

if it wasnt for the head start xbox got, ps3 would have always been ahead....at a higher price point.
wii couldnt even last the whole generation before nintendo took it out its misery and discontinued it so i dont see how thats anywhere near being a winner. they cant take all the sales during their good times and then call the end of the generation when they slump, thats what losers do.

in terms of games I think it goes 1) Sony 2)nintendo 3)MS

MS looked like they had so many exclusives and then 1 by 1 they went to ps3. wouldnt be surprised of XBone ends up the same.

Wii didn't last the whole generation because Nintendo and thirds dropped support on it after the best year it had on the market(2010). And the funny thing is that when almost no new game was being released on it(2011 was when the support was almost entirely dropped), it still managed to outsell both the PS3 and 360. How's that being a loser i'm not sure. PS2 survived so long because in 2007 and 2008 it still had great third-party support, drop support and sales will go along with it.

herd that a million time but still, whatever the excuse, it still flopped before the end of the generation came.

im sure you dont expect the wii to run games at the same level as the ps360 and im sure you dont expect it to be running games like GTA, red dead or battlefield at all. I know graphics are not everything but there comes a time where you have to look at the hardware and see what its maximum capability is. afterall thats why they released the wii U right?....which is still way underpowered compared to ps4/xb1

Oh well, then I guess this gen should've ended right when Crysis released(2007) on PC, since, you know, graphics are not everything, but you have to look at a hardware and see what it's maximum capability is. The fact that without almost any releases in an entire year, a weak-ass system hardware-wise like the Wii outsold the PS3 and the 360 which had major releases is telling enough. Also, Wii never received any expressive number of PS3/360 multiplatform games, a long list of it's sucessful games were either exclusive 3rd-party games or 1st party games. Whether it could run GTA or Battlefield never mattered, because that wasn't what it's audience was looking for.

Games? yes. Sales? no

Yeah. No. Wii won. Because it sold 20 million more systems. Or at least Wii's still winning, even if it scored most of its goals in the first half. Game isn't technically over, but we're definitely at the end of the fourth quarter and I can't imagine much is going to change. Okay, sports analogy over.

Even if PS3 does eventually pass up Wii (which I find unlikely) it will do so only by virtue of Sony's continuing to keep the thing on the market after the generation was over, and at a price that's far below what they were originally trying to sell it for. Wii's early success - when at its most expensive, thus maximizing Nintendo's profits - ensures its victory.

PS3 gets the silver medal, but not the gold.

Isn't that how the PS2 got to 150M units sold?

So, billions of USD loss and less market share don't count.

Less market share?? One gen does not carry over to the next... Head to head, 14 months less on mmarlet PS3 outsold 360, that's fact. Proof Ps3 lost billions?? Keep in mind, sony is a big company, with many divisions./

I was talking about the Wii. -.-
And check the financial reportsm especially the Playstation division.

Or ask former Sony CEO Stringer:

You have spent three billion dollars on the Playstation 3, disregarding research and development. Can you ever get your money back?

Stringer: Not for as long as I live (laughs).

Yes he couldn't, and that is because he isn't the CEO anymore =~]

This isn't going to end well... I expect a minimum of two bans to come from this thread.
If you think PS3 won, cool, if not, cool as well. In reality, does it really affect you? I guess for some it does.

No they're are truths and non truths.  Wii 100 million ps3 80 million. Facts matter,  not what's cool.

And people say Nintendo fans are delusional.

Well they definitely had the best system this gen, but the Wii was the clear winner in sales.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!
