I guess perhaps a better analogy would be (Since Sony doesn't really strike out) Sony/MS are the two companies that can 'fill the bases' or hit home runs. However, Nintendo consistently hits singles and brings in RBI's. |
Now, the most important question... are they all on the same team?

Oh no, not again!
When you think my english is bad...sorry for my bad english, i'm from Germany. And yeees, sorry, that we've almost destroyed the whole world, blahblahblah
The WiiU is doomed. Nintendo isn't.

Not making any comment on whether Nintendo is doomed (actually I will - they're not), but people keep posting this article like it's current and it isn't.
If you look at this financial result page which I think is a year out of date right now:
http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/en/library/events/120427summary/index.html
Scroll to halfway down, it says:
B. The balance of cash and deposits on the consolidated balance sheets
| As of Mar. 31, 2011 | As of Mar. 31, 2012 | |
| Cash and Deposits | 812.8 billion yen | 462.0 billion yen |
They had 812.8 billion yen in the bank. That dropped by nearly 50% the following year (mostly not from losses - mainly from assets bought).
I have no idea how much they've got at the moment. Better asking Kowenicki or something like that.
