Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo is Doomed?

They aren't doomed because of how they operate -- Unfortunately, I don't see them as a legitimate market leader for years to come because of how they operate.

To use a baseball analogy, Nintendo is a single hitter who occasionally finds a nut and hits a home run. Microsoft / Sony are homerun hitters who swing for the fences and either strike out or hit homeruns but even when they fail they can usually bring home some RBI's.

Two different approaches.

Funny. I like the analogy. But if RBIs are profits, I think Nintendo is the one who brings some runners home almost every time they step up to the plate.

Posting this now is kinda silly, its not doing as well as a new console should be doing but compare it to over a month ago, its doing so much better! (excluding japan)

Japan needs some big third party games like the 3DS get's over there. Seems that is the only thing they respong to.

No, they're definetely not doomed.

I think though. Wii-U needs to make significant improvements this holiday season with the New Mario. If they don't I think they need to make some tough decisions, with no easy right answer.

no the 3ds/2ds will kep them away from the doom doors

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

I guess perhaps a better analogy would be (Since Sony doesn't really strike out)  Sony/MS are the two companies that can 'fill the bases' or hit home runs.  However, Nintendo consistently  hits singles and brings in RBI's.

Well actually if u go the japanese amazon site u see that wii u is picking up, even though the last numbers said something else

Yeah I also just so happen to be a Nintendo fan and also think they are doomed. What a coincidence.

No really though, the amount of times I've heard "I'm a Nintendo fan and think they're doomed" is precious.

"If I had a dollar for everytime someone said that Nintendo was doomed and they weren't, I'd have enough money to buy Sony" - MohammadBadir

Nope

Just because Wii U isn't doing great it doesn't mean they are doomed. You can't succeed on every gen forever. This gen is probably lost, but they are already planning U's successor and life continues. What a company can't do is to keep doing stupid decisions gen after gen like Sega, the rest is ok.
