Yeah it's sad if a kid gets xbone then all his friends will get it also

I agree with you, and I would much rather pay the $100 less. My only reason for preferring the Xbox One would just be that I have grown accustomed to the 360's interface/style.

My point is that the $100 would be a small sacrifice to play with my friends (assuming they were hellbent on buying the Xbox One). Fortunately, they are not which means I am fine. The thing is, if someone told me that 4- 5 of their good friends were all getting an Xbox One or something and they would rather get a PS4 I would probably tell them that the experience of playing with their friends is worth the extra cost (that is if he/she can't convince their friends to get a PS4).

I value the ability to easily connect and play with my friends more than I value a $100 bill. Yeah, in an ideal situation all your friends would want the cheaper console, but that is not always the case.

Maybe its due to the fact I play mostly Single Player games, I just don't see the hard value there. Instead of going with the herd I would spend some effort convincing the others(who seemingly have no other basis other than 'be with my friends' as well) to make the more cost effective/efficeient choice. All it would take is the suggestion and in the long term everyone will be a bit happier for it.

Am I the only one who thinks it's kind of unprofessional to tell a customer to go either way? Give them a rundown of what both consoles offer and let them make that decision for themselves. Now, regarding the question at hand,yeah getting a console just because your friends are getting it sounds pretty lame. It becomes a circular argument but also it has been the explanation for alot of things that became popular.

Now the customer has the decision in their hands. You can still ask them about their motives for getting one instead of the other. The way the OP presents it only means he want a motivation in the case that the customer chooses X1, which is kind of strange.

Ignoring the first part, as I have explained about that to tedium. I'll just concentrate on the last sentence.

I don't think these people have any idea that games not played in their friend's circle even exist. They also tend to think stuff like COD is exclusive simply because everyone they know plays it on 360. Do they only play when their friends are on? I doubt it. If I can use my own personal experience as an example its really a hit or miss when I can get a group of friends together to play the SAME game at the same time. Their life schedules would have to be entirely in sync which I find hard to believe is the norm. I frequently am playing a single player game when friends message me to play something with MP so I decline.

So to me this excuse seems even weaker.

Ah, I see. You're main concern is how peopel spend their money. My advice, just worry about your own money.
