How important is resolution? (TV, ranging from 720 to 1080)

Essential. 1080p vs 720p is huge. 172 42.68%

Important. Resolution over effects. 44 10.92%

It's a minor plus, I rat... 128 31.76%

Non-issue, I don't see a difference. 58 14.39%

Total:402

I built a gaming pc a month or so back now, and being able to downsample games from super high resolutions is fantastic, gives me better image quality than you could ever hope for from most console games. So I'm a big proponent of it. Truthfully it's going to be hard going back to 720p console games (nevermind 1080p..), but I'll survive ^_^

Don't care for 1080p too much. Good graphics are good regardless of resolution. And resolution wont back bad grpahcis (CODG) good. If I sat closer to the TV, it probably would matter.

Effects and resolution are about the same in importance to me. That's why currently I run WoT in lower resolution and medium settings (I know I need a better graphics card but I can't right now, especially if I want to get a PS4 whenever the opportunity arises).

I game on a standard monitor and dedicated handheld devices. So no.

The resolution tends to create a more noticeable difference in graphics than any other setting.

dat clarity, dat smaller jaggies... hard to equate it to something, but I'd like most of my games to be 1080p next gen.

I'm with Anfibious. Don't care in the slightest but watching the discussion unfold is funny.

Hmm, pie.

I game on a 55inch tv from 3 meters away, I seriously can't tell the difference unless i like stop playing and sit bad and try to analyse the whole image lol. So in all honesty don't give a shit.

Also who they fuck has 75inch only 2.5 meters away, WAY TO CLOSE.

I really don't care about resolution so much. and i have no problem if they reduce it to make a better game. But then i want to see some awesome world that blows everything away that we have seen in this generation to understand where that additional power has gone.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

- George Orwell, ‘1984’

There isn't really an option for me. I'm not fussed about effects as such, but I'd certainly rather have a locked frame rate (ideally 60fps) at the expense of some resolution. Resolution to me doesn't impact on gameplay as much as frame rate.

However given the choice, 1080p60 is always preferable to 720p60. 720p60 is preferable to 1080p30 though.
