Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft might get away with weak hardware and still sell well because of other stuff and that makes me sad...

?? Millions dont like PC, or dont have the money, this is about consoles.....MAny only buy one, and if one plays games much better and at higher resolution then anohter, that matters, sorry, that's fact.  Changing the dubject to PC is pointless, different niche market.

Not too mantion many games don't come to PC

Power on any level means jack shit when it comes to winning.

Only historically for the industry has power not appeared to matter because it was never the "most powerful" that won. However, that doesn't mean power didn't have a part to play. The Super NES was more powerful than the Genesis from what I remember and thus was able to have games the Genesis couldn't match. The Xbox may not have even sold as many consoles as it did if it didn't have the power to run games the PS2 couldn't. Same goes for the PS3 versus its competition. So if the PS4 being the most powerful means it can run games that the other two cannot (which won't really happen versus X1 until down the road) then that power could very well be a big factor. Being the most powerful is never an actual disadvantage. It only is if the price reflects it.

Been tooting this whistle since my first post in this thread.

Although I'd say the PS3's power advantage wasn't drastic enough, even without the whole 599 US DOLLARS launch debacle and the 360's year headstart, it still would've been the namesake first and foremost that kept it on top.

I would personally argue how huge a factor GT3 (Gran Turismo 3, just to confirm that wasn't a typo) was in selling the PS2 on the basis there was nothing else like it on any other platform at the time.

Yes, I'm breaking the whole "PS2 only sold because of GTA and DVD" fourth wall... 


Personally I bought 2 PS2's and ONLY used it for GTA games. Why 2? (disk read error) why did I not end up playing other exclusives? (disk read error)

 

Both of my ps2 systems ended up with disk read errors in less than a month.....it was enough time to beat vice city and gta3 so I didn't buy anymore of those time bombs.

I find this hard to believe, and RROD says hi.

I bought 2 360's as well. I didn't get any of the launch games. when ever the elite came out is when I bought my 1st 360. it DID rrod on me but it took a year and a half before that happened. I was in no rush to buy another and got a slim a while ago and it doesn't seem liek it will be any problems.

Weak hardware?

It is better than most PCs today, it runs circles around Wii U and the raw technical specs are less than PS4...

I don't know how it makes X1 weak. It is more about that the PS4 hardware is exceptionally strong and the X1 hardware is very strong.

The first one was brand new the 2nd was referbrished ( I got it referbrished because I didn't see the point in getting another new one if it could fail so quickly. they both disk read errored on me in under a month. Maybe I was just unlucky.

EDIT: As for waranties, were I live I don't get to reep waranty benefiets. everything is imported here we don't have dedicated releases. to actually get something from these major companies is more trouble than it's worth.

You're right, don't tell the haters that. In terms of power the Xbone will be fine because the multiplats will be nearly equal, but the exclusives will tell the story. When Major Nelson unboxed the Xbone the haters probably only saw this:

The first one was brand new the 2nd was referbrished ( I got it referbrished because I didn't see the point in getting another new one if it could fail so quickly. they both disk read errored on me in under a month. Maybe I was just unlucky.

?? What? If the first one was a month old the store or sony would repair it for free.....And you thought a refurbished one wouldn't fail but another new one would?? Your story has holes the size of mount everest.
