Indeed, and PS360 sales will end up on par with Wii's, so what does that mean?

Power on any level means jack shit when it comes to winning.

Well yes, the market is shrinking and the gamers will shape out how the gen starts this gen. Theres no casual Wii crowd adding to the overall sales (or that we know of just yet).

But it was beaten to the punch by a console that was highly successful by the time Gamecube launched. So the point stands.

This is all true.  The PS4 may be the first time the most powerful console wins. Nobody is disputing that.  The OP is worried that the weaker hardware may win and he somehow feels that is a bad thing.  I think we've reached a point where power isn't as important as it used to be so having the best box isn't going to be as important as having the best games...but that's how it's always been.  OP is worried over nothing.  The games will decide who wins.

(I liked the Wii so shut up!)

I would personally argue how huge a factor GT3 (Gran Turismo 3, just to confirm that wasn't a typo) was in selling the PS2 on the basis there was nothing else like it on any other platform at the time.

Yes, I'm breaking the whole "PS2 only sold because of GTA and DVD" fourth wall...

It will sell well but not as well as ps4



PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

There are more markets that just hardcore gamers. When I look at PS4 there's nothing for the whole family. Only a gaming console with a "me too" TV and motion attitude. Even though X1 plays games it's not a gaming console targeted at hardcore gamers at all. Hardcore gamers will be satisfied with it of course but so will casuals and families. People that want applications that are better with Kinect will get satisfied, people that want TV integration will get satisfied, hell even communicating through Skype with Kinect is a selling point over PS4 (though MS might allow PS4 to do the same with Skype).

I'm not saying PS4 is bland compared to X1 but it looks more like a dedicated gaming device than X1. There is a market for dedicated gaming devices like there's a market for multi purpose devices like X1. Both will sell well to their respective market.
