Also, Wii has the highest selling version of Skylanders, at least in the US.
Still quite a few active Wii owners, contrary to what the internet will tell you.

people never said anything to the contrary, its the TYPE of games these active users are still playing.

The intrnet is full of claims that Wii owners don't buy games anymore and "they're all in the cupboard gathering dust".

Yes the entire internet does claim that, and based on this site and every other sites numbers those facts seem to be born out.  Have you seen what nintendo's global software numbers have been the last couple yrs compared to sony/microsoft.  There is a very good reason that people believe that most wii's are sitting on shelfs collecting dust, it also doesnt help when nintendos follow up console is practicly ignored both in terms of software and hardware.

Nearly 400,000 units of Wii software sold on the week ending 12st October. That's for a console that's been replaced for a while now. Wiis are clearly not all "gathering dust". People not only still play them, they still buy new games for them.

most of those are sold during the holidays, while people buy and play games for the HD twins all year round. Doesnt make you wrong just making a point.

According to this site, there has been over 20 million units of Wii software sold this year so plenty of Wii owners buy games all year round

I'm not sure if this is really helping the argument.  Even if no Wii owner bought more than one game, that would mean about 79% of Wii owners haven't purchased a game this year.  If we assume the new owners from this year average three games including bundles, that would bring it up to 82%.  I don't think many people argue that the Wii has zero active owners, just that the vast majority aren't.  The numbers reflect this.

Even if we add 2012 sales to 2013 and assume nobody buys more than one game, we have over 7% of Wii owners who haven't bought a game in the last 22 months.

I wasnt arguing about the number of active Wii owners, I was disputing his statement that Wii owners dont buy games outside of the holidays

The Wii titles that have sold over 500,000 this year are

1. Just Dance 4-1,213,738

2. Wii Sports-714,131

3. Mario Kart Wii-692,536

4. Wii Sports Resort-646,690

5. New Super Mario Bros Wii-624,377

6. Skylanders Giants-528,156

im not sure what games have been bundled with Wii this year but Im guessing its these games I have listed and they only make up a little over 20% of Wii software sales.

Just noticed that Wii U has outsold 360 for the past 3 weeks in Germany

Well he said most occur during the holiday season, not all.  The figures do show that most Wii owners have not bought any software this year.  Granted it is unlikely that the holiday season will double current Wii software sales.

Also it is pretty much the same argument, just framed in a slightly different perspective.  Most Wii owners have not bought any games outside of the holiday season this year, and most Wii owners have not been actively purchasing software this year.

Beyond held pretty well considering middling reviews. Not much else is interesting to me.

Wii U sales going pretty well in North America, OK in Europe too.
