The resolution difference by now is expected, but the better frame rate and use of ambient occlusion is quite unexpected. A nice coup for the PS4. That said, 900p is still a tad disappointing in my eyes, and I'll be getting the PC version over the PS4 version for graphixxx and m/kb controls anyway.
The X1 version looks sharper and more colorful. The PS4 version looks cleaner. I wouldn't even bother comparing but if I had to choose, the X1 footage looks more appealing. Why is it sharper if it has less resolution?
Just change you HDTV setthing to PS4 image looks equal Xbone... what are you seeing in images is some something related to the capture of Digital Foundry.
A better comparision without the weird dark... even so the YouTube is killing both quality in the video.
BTW here the Digital Foundry awnser about the wrong caputre.

The issue here is simple; Tom had a limited amount of time to capture this stuff and was not able to do so in a normal environment. If mistakes were made normally, it would be easy to go back and correct, but with the way this worked, it wasn't really possible.
Why so different? DF uses their own hardware for capturing while DICE were handing out Elgato boxes to everyone else. The DF hardware is actually much more capable but it works differently and, without the experience of working with these new consoles, I can see a situation where settings were dialed in wrong.
JF used what DICE provided and probably didn't even attempt to change any settings which, in this case, turned out to be for the best.
- PS4 version looks on pair with PC (you can't see the diffeence) * compared it to BF4 running on a high-end PC with a "pretty expensive Radeon card" - Any PC less than 1000€ will look worst than PS4 if you want 60fps - PS4 version looks brighter due to the recording that they're using - Some effects like water drops on the windscreen that are missing in the PC version but available on PS4 - Shadows, level of detail, etc are indistinguishable - PS4 version runs smoothly even in "bombastic scenes"
These screenshots and videos have confirmed for me what I suspected from the beginning. Graphics this generation just wont matter. One may look slightly better than the other when you snap two shots and look at them very closely side by side, but damn I am not about to pull out a magnifying lens to say look I can piss further then you can.
Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.
It's somewhat disappointing dropping below 1080p during this generation also, but let's keep some optimism and hope things would change to the better from now on. I see this game got to play the awkward role of the first "benchmark" between the two upcoming consoles. Either way, one version would look better tha the other. This, by itself, does not mean much. What does mean something, apparently, is the sub hd resolution on both. But the new "day" has just begun, so - as I've said above - let's keep some optimism.

I'd have to say I'm pretty disappointed in both. There's no way the PS4 version is as good as PC like the one article says, its not capable of 1080p in this game while all PC's will be running it.
I was really hoping both Xbox One and PS4 would make the step into full 1080p consoles, but it appears even with 2160p (4k) on the horizon that we STILL won't be getting 1080p out of our consoles.
Unfortunately for people that enjoy the NHL series from EA such as myself, it means by next year if I want the new game I'm going to have to choose one over the other, and so far the PS4 seems to have that edge, which I'm really surprised Microsoft would even let happen, maybe fearing they would be too close to Windows machines.
That or its the same thing that happened last gen with 360 and PS3 when some games looks better on each system, but I've yet to see a game look and be quite as smooth as Infamous or some of the other games I've played on PS3, but who knows what exactly is being pushed through the system on exclusives.
I really like my 360 most of this gen, and I'm still playing it more than my PC and PS3 but I'd have to say I might have to consider a PS4 first this time around, but I know i'll even end up with a Wii U at some point because of Zelda so its really going to come down to what I want first and what system NHL plays and looks best on. Chances are tho most companies are going to make them almost unnoticeably different until you freeze frame.
Are you expecting a $400 machine to compete with a rig equipped with AMD Radeon 7990? PS4 version is almost identical to pc version according to gametrailers.com. Here is the link.
I expected it to be at least 1080p tho. My PC isn't that crazy, i have an HD 6770 and a 2.2Ghz Core 2 Duo oc'd to 2.9 and 4 gigs of ram. You can get the Core 2 Duo for like 20-30 bucks and the HD 6770 is like 75 bucks and i can get 1080P Skyrim with all the settings cranked except AA (which you don't really need at 1080P as i noticed very little jaggies if any). I expect at least that it would be better than my mid range PC where every game i play is in 1080 and looks noticeably better and sharper than games on my 360 or PS3, and of course my 480p Wii is the jaggiest of them all.

Is this cheap PC future proof? This means will I be able to play games in 2017 at 720p to 900p? I dont think so.
