Just like I said in another thread, although the PS4 version is superior on paper, I don't see almost any difference and I even would say that the X1 version looks a bit better to my eyes on that video.

you arent going to see much difference on a video with youtube compression, recorded footage versus live gameplay on your tv make a huge difference.

The X1 version looks sharper and more colorful. The PS4 version looks cleaner. I wouldn't even bother comparing but if I had to choose, the X1 footage looks more appealing. Why is it sharper if it has less resolution?

Game of the year 2017 so far:

5. Resident Evil VII
4. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
3. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy
2. Horizon Zero Dawn
1. Super Mario Odyssey

Yeah, but who will have the same tv twice with both consoles hooked up and then comparing?

People, like me, who are buying both consoles?

The upscaler in the Xbox One applies a sharpness filter to the entire image, boosting the perceived detail of textures but as a downside, highlighting the aliasing from lower resolution even more.

I posted this earlier, the only changes made was to drop in a 20% contrast change and a simple sharpness filter on the PS4 image, changes you can make on most modern TVs these days simply from the menus.

The difference between the versions is minimal when those simple changes are applied, with the obvious advantage to the PS4 in resolution, and for actual gameplay, an advantage in framerate stability online and off, despite locking at 900p for sp and mp.

It is also worth noting, and CGI Quality can chime in on this if he wants, from the pictures and videos i have seen, the Xbox One is using a rough self shadowing and a simple shadow map for foliage, where as the PS4 is seeminly using a more accurate shadow casting as well as self shadowing.

Both look awesome but at times I prefer the PS4 one and the X1 at other time. People say there is a huge difference but I don't see a huge difference at all. PS4 and X1 look closer than PS4 and PC... seriously the PC version sh!ts on both of them I can only laugh at those saying PS4 and PC are closer than PS4 and X1... and why compare images... nothing beats videos.

And you have two times the same tv to directly compare? That's what I wrote. And if you have both consoles no one is stopping you from buying the superior version. What I wonder is will people see the "big" difference when they play at home one version and the other at a friend's tv?

I will be playing my consoles on my Sony XBR-65X900A, its a 4K display and can display multiple hdmi inputs at 1080p side by side (up to 4) at NATIVE resolutions, not scaled or distorted in any way, so if me and my partner are playing both consoles at the same time, and it happens to be the same game, it will be really quite obvious.

I will be playing my consoles on my ony TV, its a 4K display and can display multiple hdmi inputs at 1080p side by side (up to 4) at NATIVE resolutions, not scaled or distorted in any way, so if me and my partner are playing both consoles at the same time, and it happens to be the same game, it will be really quite obvious.

I wasn't attacking you and your partner, I was talking about usual setups with different TVs at different locations. But whatever.

You asked me specifically.

"And you have two times the same tv to directly compare?"

As such i responded to you with my specific situation.

Yep, because this is what I meant in the first place and you came up with your one-tv-situation.
