Forums - Gaming - DF Face-Off Preview: Battlefield 4 PS4 vs XBONE vs PC

Btw, the below shot looks much like the PS4 shot, and not like the oversaturated, stark shaprned X1 shot.

I hope that sharpen filter is not a default hardware feature like the gamma adjustment last gen. Both are a huge eyesoar if you calibrate your screen properly. Any calibration guide begins by having you disable any sort of sharpening crap, and reduce saturation. The gamma adjustment also made it impossible to get a correct greyscale on the 360. Sucks because Zune had the better resolution for movies this gen, yet never the right black level.

Edit: The other thread says it's DF's capture equipment doing the sharpening and contrast/saturation filter. (Weird, why would capture add sharpening) Better wait for a face off with correctly calibrated equipment.
Anyway your PC shots look great!

I really hate ambient occlusion, it looks so bad/fake. The one in Splinter Cell Blacklist was pretty good though (HBAO+ I think).

It's pretty much a black glow around things, looks even worse when in motion.

Is this cheap PC future proof? This means will I be able to play games in 2017 at 720p to 900p? I dont think so.

His graphics card is 4 years old. (Exactly the same as a Radeon 5770.) and with a 6-7 year old processor.
Thus, it's already had a relatively long life.

both look good

Did you know ps4 only supports a 2.4 wireless signal?

The xbox one supports a wireless adapter capable of 2.4 - 5.0ghz.

The ONLY next gen console to do so.

I think it's pretty much a given this gen will nearly always be PC > PS4 > Xbone > Wii U in multi platform face offs.

From what I've read regarding DF face off, they used their own capture equipment while the rest of the world used one handed out by EA/DICE. According to DF their stuff is much superior to the point it picks out technical curiosities that the equipment provided by EA doesn't. One ofwhich is the (once again like the 360) borked Full RGB mode on the Xbone so as to make it look more richer and contrasty in colour.

Also something not in the OP, DICE have said the Xbone retail release will feature the full HBAO of the PS4 and PC version.

They say the PS4 version actually looks nearly as good as PC Max Settings!

That's great to hear.

The amount of people I heard saying it wouldn't come close.

Sorry but those pics only back up my belief that X1 looks superior. PS4 looks blurry and washed out. Surprising considering how superior PS4 is supose to be.

Again though, this is my opinion going by what is shown. Just look at the water in the botton shot. Some of the effects are missing in the PS4 version.

Wow... opinion is differant than flat out denial. Now give up the sham and give credit where its do.

I have no clue what "sham" is but I will not admit anything that isnt true. The X1 version looks crisper and more detailed in every shot that has been posted. Maybe you need glasses or need to stop the denial? Either way its pretty clear to me that the X1, at least in pics, is the slightly better looking version. I am sorry that hurts you so much. I really am, but I will not admit to something I dont see.

Are you serious?

I'll post more shots, do you honestly think the Xbox One version looks better?

The Xbox One is easily more Vivid. But the PS4 can do that with some screen calibration.
The Xbox One's shadows from the over hanging phone/power lines is clearly inferior as it's less defined and more aliased.
Otherwise, they are so damn close it's not worth stressing about.

The sharpening was the Xbone.

The color gama was the capture from DF (some issue with RGB-limited).

A german website said you need a over $1000 PC to beat the graphics of PS4 targeting 60fps.
