I imagine if you think about it hard enough, you'll realize that the reason why "biased" is allowed but "fanboy" isn't is because of connotation.

The word "bias" has a relatively neutral connotation. The word "fanboy" is quite negative and makes more assumptions than the word "bias" does.

Depends on how you say it which is why i said make a judgement call.  It is pretty obvious when somebody is using the word bias as a synonym to fanboy but because people can get away with it they do as you can with many rules right now.

The truth is, people who want to get around the rule book can do so easily.  VGC creates a smarter version of a troll

True, true. I've noticed several people admitting so.

The difference is that everyone is biased, while not everyone is a fanboy. Also, there is something about the word "boy" that makes this an insult to many.

Exactly, I prefer to be called fangirl.

"I've Underestimated the Horse Power from Mario Kart 8, I'll Never Doubt the WiiU's Engine Again"

Hmm. I am a Mexican Food Fanboy.

Yes, the bias is strong with this one.

Because everyone has their bouts of bias and it's useful to point it out. While fanboy is almost always a more extreme word meant to insult intelligence, motives, etc.

I'm pretty sure the word "bias" cannot be effectively used to insult someone anyway. Seriously, no matter how passionate "bias" is said, I can't see how anyone could feel offended. The quote you gave seemed relatively passive and certainly doesn't warrant moderation. And honestly, if a user feels hurt or offended from being called "biased", then there's a bigger problem that a mere moderation cannot heal.

Aren't you always asserting how "unbiased" you are compared to everyone else?

Does that mean you've been implying a lot of other people on this site are fanboys for a while now?

I don't agree that "fanboy" is a bad word or actually implies anything negative. I think that it simply means a fan that has decided that their console of choice is better than all others without any consideration of facts or others opinions.

I think that most posters on this site are fanboys that have short periods of neutrality.

Nothing wrong with it, as the Mods seem to be the same way.

The sooner that people accept that, then the sooner people won't take it personal when everyone disagrees with them.

It is near the end of the end....

I don't think policing the word "bias" is a good idea. However, it would be nice if members could use it appropriately. There has to be some pre-judgment and some amount of inequity for there to be bias. More often than not, the word is used on this site to mean "preference."

I agree with landboy.
whats wrong with the term 'fanboy'? im a fanboy, and I dont know a single person on this site who isnt.

fanboys are what make the 'console wars', the reason for this sites success.

Yeah, pretty much what I was saying.  In order to make "bias" offending, you need equally (or more) offending words to accompany it.  That, or if it becomes personal between the user and yourself.  In those cases, it isn't the word that's the problem.

There's also the fact that there are MANY words people can be offended by.  I don't think it's fair to legislate a neutral word simply because someone takes offense to it.
