I have one set up in my bedroom, complete with Wave Race blue storm, Paper Mario TYD, The Hulk, Second Sight, Geist, Mario Kart DD, Hitman 2, Ace golf and Need for Speed hot pusuit 2. Gamecube was my fave Nintendo console but believe it or not Wii U now holds that crown..man i just cant get enough of Wonderful 101.

Not really.

The Gamecube was the lowest point in Nintendo's home console history for me.

I almost lost interest in gaming altogether during the 6th gen because of it. There were a few gems like Resident Evil 4, Metroid Prime, and F Zero GX, but they ruined Zelda, 3D Mario, and Starfox.

The Wii was a huge step up and brought me back into gaming in a big way.

I don't miss it because it's sitting under my living room TV right now (well OK, the Wii is, but same difference).

I DO miss being able to play my Wii games with a GC controller, although I was smart enough to copy all of the Wii games that didn't have online save data to an SD card before transferring them to the Wii U, then copying them back to the Wii. It's so easy to forget how wonderful that controller is until you're deprived of it.

Coincedentally, I've been on a mission lately to sell a bunch of my GC games to upgrade them to newer versions. Just sold Wind Waker yesterday for $25 to wait for the Wii U version to go on sale in a few years. Trying to find someone to give Resident Evil 4 to so I can justify getting the Wii version. Trying to sell the three Metroid Primes at $10 apiece so I can get the trilogy all on one disc.

i'm one of those Nintendo fans who loved the GC more than the NES and N64 :P

So, not a true Nintendo fan.

the hell does that mean?

It means that he's not a true Nintendo fan, because Gamecube was more like a Playstation 2 or Xbox for kids rather than a typical Nintendo system.

thats your opinion didnt know their was a criteria to be a "true" Nintendo fan, thought it was just enough to buy the products.

Man, I sure wish these kinds of statements could be entirely absent from a thread like this.

It takes some nerve to tell someone they're not a "true" fan because they like the same thing as you in a different way.

I approve this statement.

What's a typical Nintendo system?  I mean, at the time, the only "quirky" Nintendo system was the N64 with its newfangled analog stick.  The Gamecube was right in line with the Nes and Snes, right?  Just more power than what came before and able to capably run most third party games.  The Wii was actually the first time a Nintendo home console went batshit crazy.

Each Nintendo console except GameCube advanced the interface.

NES - added the d-pad and revolutionized videogame genres and interface.

SNES - Added shoulder buttons and diamond face buttons, and chips like the FX chip, AGAIN revolutionizing.

N64 - Added an analog stick and advanced heavily into the realm of free roaming 3D.

Wii - Added motion controls allowing for the thriving of new genre types.

Wii U - Added full touchscreen again advancing the interface.

Gamecube - Took away the diamond face buttons (for no reason at all) thus screwing genres that thrived on it (such as 2D fighters), shrunk the d-pad to child-size, and added a lunchbox handle so kids could carry it to their friend's houses more easily. It also heavily mimicked the PS2, but lacked features and appeal, and had a more child friendly design. This is why I don't see it in the vein of typical Nintendo home consoles.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Jumpin, really dude.
Yes, All Nintendo's consoles had Interface advancements besides the GC, and I like them, but do you honestly think that I'm a Nintendo fan just because of those advancements? What has Reggie been saying for like a year now? "it's all about the games". Exactly, just because the GC controller didn't cause the next gaming revolution didn't mean that Metroid Prime, Eternal Darkness, Geist, Baten Kaitos, MGS: Twins Snakes, Pikmin, Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, Pikmin 2, Zelda: Wind Waker, F-Zero GX, Zelda: Twilight Princess, Baten Kaitos Origins, Mario Kart: Double Dash, Super Smash Bros: Melee, etc. were bad games, in fact, some of those are the best in their franchise.

And I for one loved the hell out of the GC Controller, I used it for every Wii Game that supported it, bought an adapter to use it as a Classic Controller for Xenoblade and other Wii games, as well as for the WiiU, and I even bought a GC Controller Port to USB adapter so I can use it for PC games, I liked it that much, it's super comfortable and the triggers are just orgasmic.

Not really. I do still have my old gamecube packed away, I kept just 2 games, eternal darkness and resident evil which will play on the wii that has collected dust and tells me I need to clean up over there.

Yes i miss R.E 0 and Metroide Prime
