Just anecdotely, I would spend the extra 30$ if I was getting someone a present, they may care for 3DS plus it looks better. For core gamers, I don't see who would buy a 2DS, I don't think there are going to be ques of peeps waiting for it on day one. But I gues Nintendo will be pushing the 2DS with marketing and shelf space logically it should easily sell more then the original 3DS.



Its not targeted for core gamers and beside, you might be generous to spend an extra $40 but not everyone is like that unfortunately

I think 2DS pokemon combo might bring 3DS to DS levels of sales. Not to sure about it yet but the price is right. So I think it is possible to beat the PS4, especially if supply issues.

I'm tempted to say yes, if only because price-cuts and remodels have demonstrated an ability to improve sales in the past. However, the 2DS strikes me as a questionable product, if for no other reason than no one was really asking for it.

In the end...I think the comparison is useless. It's like comparing the sales of Apples and Mayo.

I think the PS4 will win that battle though, im not sure how popular the 2DS will be.

The only way to know how much 2DS sells independent of the rest of the 3DS family is to wait for NPD results and see if they or Nintendo mention 2DS-specific figures come November/ December.

I actually think it'll be pretty close. 2DS will greatly help sales of 3DS, of course with the aide of Pokemon X/Y. PS4 is projected for what, 3 million before the end of 2013? 2DS could easily do that globally between Oct and December. Don't underestimate the power of cheap parents and a $129.99 price tag.

Time will tell. But cheaper doesn't always garuntee more success the wii mini was a flop here in the UK

I honestly don't think the wii mini is a good comparison.  That was launched after the metaphorical death of the Wii.  The 2DS is launching in the prime of the 3DS life, in conjunction with one of the most popular series there is.
