Hahaha.. I'm pretty convinced at this point that people in the gaming media get a boner for writing cynical shit about Nintendo.. I mean I shouldn't talk, I've written my share as well. Hell, I'm probably one of their harshest critics as of late. I think they've made some absurd business moves and have been downright stupid and stubborn in abandoning the Revolution they had going with the Wii sometime in 2009 and regressing back to the Gamecube-style niche games with Wii U..

But where I differ from most of these critics is that I DO believe Nintendo will EVENTUALLY right the ship again, just like they did in 2006 after the Gamecube with the Wii phenomenon. Hell, they've been around for over a CENTURY. Let that sink in for a moment.. Over an entire CENTURY. Despite their seemingly stupid moves in the short term, they obviously have some crazy whit, intelligence, and foresight in the longterm locked away somewhere, in order to have created some of the massive successes they have conjured, such as the NES, Gameboy, DS, and Wii.

Nintendo will always be doomed in the eyes of many, and that to me makes it that much more enjoyable when every time they shove these "doomed" predictions up these critics' asses, and reinvent the games industry with another phenomenon.. And rest assured, they WILL do so again. It may not be soon, but it will happen. They're simply in arrogant mode right now, and they'll need to get another humbling..

What's a Nintendo? That would be the company the author is obviously steadfastly refusing to allow his daughter to enjoy. That poor girl.

You really think Nintendo will forever be relevant because it was relevant when *you* were young? Kids today are growing up with so much tech in their hands, mostly phones and tablets, that they really don't know "what a Nintendo or a Mario is". Might seem funny to you, but Nintendo just doesn't enter their sphere of experience with all the other, cooler stuff around, and at this rate the company is playing itself out of the game for a good while to come. Your arrogant laughter seems kind of silly against that backdrop.

There's lots of things wrong with Nintendo right now but these articles usually fail to point out Nintendo's actual problems. This guy has absolutely no idea about economics so I wonder why he thinks he's up to writing such an article?

He does have a point with Nokia. Ten years ago, people would have laughed at you when you would say that Samsung ans Apple are going to be the biggest cell phone makers. People would have told you that Nokia is sitting on so much cash, that they could lose money for 100 years and still be around. Well, now they're gone. (Yeah, I know they still exist but just don't make phones anymore, but you get the whole idea)

The same could happen (not saying it will) to Nintendo. The market is highly unpredictable, so never say never. Even with a shitload of cash, anything can happen.

Remember that Microsoft already tried to buy Nintendo. If Nintendo becomes cheap enough, some mega company might just be successful with such an investment. Doesn't matter how much cash the'll still have, it's peanuts versus mega companies like Google, Apple or Microsoft.

The problem with this argument is that it's been around since 1995 or so. Sure, it was just "PC's and the internet" back then, and Crash Bandicoot was the cooler stuff, but the argument is the same.
