Forums - Gaming - Killer Instinct is 720p, focusing on maintaining 60 FPS

Funny because Xbox fans seemed to have assumed 1080p 60fps. There are a lot of things that go into visuals and processing other than resolution and framerate. Even I know that and I know next to nothing about processing power.

To be fair that was not a Xbox fans fault... MS announced the game at E3 with full 1080p@60fps but well MS word right now is not that strong.

60 fps > resolution

Thankfully developers seem to be understanding that this gen.

I won't downgrade resolution on a game unless it will get under 30-35 fps. 1080p just looks so much better.

I agree with both you guys. On one hand, 60fps is a standard for me now (nanything below feels choppy, and in some cases, unplayable). However, 1080p is definitely crisper, particularly any screen 32" and up.

I'm just a little surprised they couldn't achieve both, considering this machine's specs, but since it's a launch title, completing it is far more important.

No, they could have done both. Forza can do that, and I am guessing that a racing game has a lot more physics invlolved making it hard to run. So it's a little pathetic that they can'y achieve this, Shows how good of a studio Double helix is.

What???????? This game's graphics look pretty comparable to current gen stuff yet it's only 720? Wasn't injustice at that resolution?

Lol really?  I mean its a fighting game...next to racers its got to be the easiest kind of game to bump to 1080p.  I'm pretty sure even SSB on Wii U is 1080p and it can have double the characters on the screen.  This game seems more and more rushed.

I guess you are right here.

Time is the issue... the game will be launch with only 6 characters and the story mode will be completed post launch via DLC.

Smash Bros is in freaking 1080p.

So, the Wii U being more powerful than the Xbox One is confirmed then? Especially since Smash Bros has four characters on the screen, not just two.

Indeed. Many launch games will be under serious time constraints, thus they'll lack features that may have, otherwise, been there. For example, Forza 5 is missing some things that were in previous games and we know it isn't a result of weak hardware. That really only leaves a few conclusions - the developers decided to remove said features because they didn't work (highly unlikely, given they're more helpful than harmful), or they're strapped for time.

Maybe the LOLtaku rumor was not wrong after all.

I agree... MS need to launch this year even if they fix or complete the game via DLC after launch.

PS. I will stop here because somebody will say I'm spreading FUD

True, but going from 2 to 1 character on screen might have made it difficult to balance the game ;)

That's a fair point, though I wonder if the game would be more enjoyable with one character on screen@120fps? :P

noob
playing 1/2 charackter with 240fps is the ultimate experience

Your the noob, just put a pixel on the screen and make the FPS OVER 9000!
