Forums - Nintendo - Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze and The Legend of Zelda Wind Waker HD will be 50 dollars instead of 60

Panic Nintendo!

Around the Network

I love that they are doing this whole not one set price for new games thing...
They did it with Lego City and Animal Crossing, so I'm assuming they have found it worthwhile...
I hope it continues into the future, and I hope the industry as a whole will adopt such policies...

Have a nice day...

It's an acknowledgement that Wind Waker is an enhanced port and Tropical Freeze is a level pack, obviously.

Really? I thought TF was a standalone - new game to the series o.O.

It is basil. Read between the lines. Tongue in cheek comments.

OT: Awesome news.

I'm half joking (or am I?).

The point is that both games recycled substantial assets in their development, and I suspect didn't require as much investment as typical HD titles. If Nintendo thinks a lower price will drive more sales, they might as well do it.

Wii Party U comes with Wiimote+

So that is debatable.

3DS Friend Code: 4553 - 9954 - 4854. Name - David

They are cheap to make, that's the reason.

The engine exists (for DK) and is just getting enhanced/used to its full potential. The art style has a simple, comic like focus, thus not aiming for many details, which means that it's rather easy to draw/model something.
No real story, voice acting, licensing which means that only the level design is the other big part that eats away some money, but that is mostly just copy and pasting assets here and there.

Wind Waker HD is a remake so it's rather obvious that it's going to be cheaper.

There is a Wiimote++? Or does it just come with a controller?

If that's the case, one has to argue quality and cost to develop. DKCRTF already has an engine, and was clearly a quick job by Retro to make an early title for the Wii U. It will probably be awesome, just saying, like New Super Mario Bros. it's quick and cheap to develop.

Wii Party U might not be much more of a game then Wii Play was.

One thing I have to give Nintendo credit for is not instantly charging 60.00 for every single game like the other 2 did. Many early Ps3/360 games really didn't deserve the 60.00 price tag
Of course many people wont let the cheaper games or free online get in the way of their hate.
I've seen some really outrageous post since the price drop was announced.

Not sure what you are eluding to, however when Sony and/or Microsoft remade games in HD they sold them for $40, not $50 like Nintendo or $60 like you are claiming.

This is the short list:

Halo Anniversary was $40

God of War Saga was $40

Ratchet Collection was $40

Sly Collection was $40

ICO/SoTC Collection was $40

God of War Origins was $40
