Forums - Microsoft - Xbox One controller development costs: $100 million!

now imagine how much for Kinect :D

They already said it was something like 2-3 Billion for the one they released for the Xbox 360!  But I think some of that includes the NUI, Natural User Interface.  Who knows about this new one.

But since it's being used in so many things outside of gaming: research, medical, geography, navigation, flight, etc.  - I think it will benefit all of us.

Another company that spends swimming polls of money on research is Samsung.  I think that is a big reason they are doing so well right now.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

So ten times as much as all Sony controllers combined?

Oh you went there!

loose change for MS

If this is true. They use the cost of a movie production that pays for hundreds of people and actors, on a piece of plastic. Geez. I get it that all the time worked on it. But it's a freaking controller.

I actually doubt that Kinect cost as much to develop, there's a certain goal for controllers, there's a lot of different things that could be put in and different shapes to be done in.  Kinect for the most part is just a camera, they don't really need to refine anything with it.

The software on the other hand... probably a lot more than the controller.  A lot more.

well when I say kinect of course it implies the software it needs to run....sorry I didn't specify :)

I can't wait to try that pad....

At first that seems like a huge sum but when you factor everything in it makes sense. By the looks of it, the money seems well spent.

Additionally, at first one might think that using AA batteries was a bad decision but in reality by doing that they are just giving you more options. You can easily buy re-chargeable batteries and it would be the same as if the controller was a re-chargeable battery pack or you can buy disposable batteries in a pinch and use those. Also can't you use a mini USB cord and make the controller wired?

Enough to make Wii U's gamepad blush.

and having AA battery options saved my gaming session in the pasts... I have battery packs on all my pads day one on my 360 but I also did cut my charger kit cord once and ran out of battery... with out the AA battery option I would have been a amd gamer on the road lol :P

I will permaban myself if the game releases in 2014.

in reference to KH3 release date

that seems way too much for rumble in the triggers, a higher placed d-pad, latency decrease and some prettier buttons...

with this the R and D for the console, kinect, exclusive games bribes. various contract licences for tv channels and all the hidden costs i dont see how they expect to make a profit this gen.. especially since 75 percent of consumers still hates their guts.
