Forums - Sony Discussion - What I Want To See In Second Model Of Vita

Was a chance of a second model for the Vita hinted at today in my absence? Or is this just because of the inevitable second "re-design" consoles usually get now?

Just inevitable second model, no hints.

Thanks. I was just wondering because I've been completely out of the loop today.

Anyhow, I don't see the proprietary cards Sony uses for this ever changing. I agree with Pokoko on that one. They just need to get them down as low as they possibly can. I also don't mind the gloss. I enjoy gloss.

Whoah, like always no ONE mention the fact that you cover the sound with your thumbs while playing... Seriousely guys are you sure you play with your vita ?
L1/R1 button are pretty poors. Start and select suck but who use them anyway ? They serve almost no purpose.

ive never noticed this, im always using headphones with my Vita.

L/R arent terrible but they are poor. i dont have a PDP Trigger Grip but people say they are amazing compared to the standard L/R

the only reason i would buy one is for a 3rd analogue stick. 2 isnt enough

INTERNAL MEMORY ITS 2013 SONY CONSOLES SHOULD NO LONGER REQUIRE YOU TO BUY A SEPARATE PRODUCT IF THEY WANT TO SAVE THERE GAME SAVES!!!!

I wish the sticks were a little bit bigger, but it wouldn't work from a design standpoint. It would be cool to have a way to output the games onto a television. However, for the most part the Vita fixed all the issues I had with the PSP from a design perspective (besides the memory cards).

1. This one is essential, add a SD card slot on the Vita.  The memory cards Sony is charging for are extremely overpriced.  Sony says they used them because they want to combat priacy and because the memory cards need to be a certain speed.  I have heard that these memory cards are extremely slow and if the 3DS is capable of using SD cards I see no reason why the Vita is not able to.  Sony put them in only to combat priacy and that's not right, you don't punish your loyal fans, by makingthem pay for expensive memory cards, when they weren't the ones that were pirating your games.  They need to find a new way to combat piracy.

2. So usually when a second model or slim version of a console comes out the company uses cheaper materials to make the console and they are able to cut the price a little bit.  That is all I want, a $50 price cut, if the Vita drops to $200 I will be way more inclined to buy it.

3. Gloss finish removed.  Now I know this is not that big a deal for some people, but for me I hate having fingerprint marks all over my console, and the Vita is black so they stick out even more.  I like the way the 3DS XL is.  Not the original 3DS, but the XL version.

4. Analog Sticks are a little small.  Now I don't own a Vita, but my friend does and I've played it a couple times and I did not like the size of the analog sticks.  Take this with a grain of salt because this might just be because I need to get used to them or whatever, so anyone that has a Vita what do you think?  Would you like the analog sticks to be a little bigger?

5. I have also heard a lot of people having trouble with their Vita touch screen being glitchy or unresponsive.  Once again i can't comment on this for sure since I don't have one so anyone that has one please say how yours is.  I will say though that I have never had any problems with the touch screen on my Nintendo handhelds so I expect the Vita's touch screen to be of the same quality.

So what do you guys think and what do you want changed in the second model of the Vita?

1.  I'd rather move back to the Memory Stick Duo cards, like the PSP has.  I have a 16GB card that I got for my PSP a couple of months before it broke.  Now, it justs sits around for my computer, but, it's not being used much anymore.

But, the price of those cards would drop before sony allowed you to use another type of card.

2.  A price drop is going to happen if you wait long enough.  But, is the wait worth the 50 dollars you're saving?  That amounts to pennys per day if we go back to the launch.

3.  Get a white vita, problem solved.

4. Sticks are fine.  At least for me...  Any bigger and the risk of breaking them off the system becomes bigger.  Also, from being in, say, a pocket for too long, the sticks can become stick in that spot.

5.  Never ever had that problem.  I have a protector film over my vita, and it still picks up movement if my finger even hovers over the screen close enough.  Not much of a problem, because my hand has to be really close, yet not touching for it to work.  Then, yes, when I actually do touch it, it's fine.

I'd like to play the thing on TV, perhaps internal memory, a higher MP camera and 2GB RAM.

HDMI out is really all I want.

the bold is BS.

There are Ultra SD cards, which do 30 MB a second.

There are also Extreme SD cards.

And there are also Extreme Pro SD cards with 2 different speeds: 95 MB a second & 130 MB a second.

And I wouldn't count on there being a second model of the PS Vita with these sells.
