I don't get it.
If you're male, you're male. If you're female, you're female. If you're transgender (pre-op or post-op), you're the gender you identify with. For hermaphrodites or ambiguiously genedered persons, I'd say select the gender you identify with.

I have dealt with enough super angry people that would have that reaction. Especially if you have to explain to them their new born kid is 'other.'
About 2.5 to 5% of the population is born with some of both, or both. There are enough times where you really can't give one of the two most popular answers.
