Alright thanks!  I'll probably stick with Corsair like I have and find one that's good and efficient.

It's probably much sooner than that, but we will approach an area of diminishing returns soon.  That what the who 'retina display' is supposed to mean - that it at a level where they eye can't tell the difference.

It's like on graphics now.  You can double or quadruple the number of polygons, but it doesn't do much.

We didn't really have many 720p TV's, when the Xbox 360 was released, and that was only 2005. 1080p became popular later. 

Both the Xbox One and PS4 a reported to be able to do 4K, but I think its probably just up-scaling.



 

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

I prefer a multi projector setup with blending software and a curved screen. If only I had the space and money for this

What an awesome set up!  I'm also looking forward to flexible screens.  Where you can flaten them for a movie, but curl them around you when you want to play a game.

But at some point, the VR/AR goggles like Occulus Riff will come into play.  If they had 4K screens might really be really close looking to reality (or 4K in each eye.)

As an owner of a 15" retina Macbook (2880x1800) I can assure you that playing games at high resolutions is indeed awesome and worth it. The thought of this makes me want to go out and buy a killer PC and 3 4k displays but I guess the missus would try to talk me out of this with totally irrational arguments ("we could buy a new car for that money" pffft...)

Just be careful when buying a PSU.  While most Corsair's are great, Corsair doesn't actually make them themselves.   An OEM does.  Many models are made by SeaSonic.   THIS is who you want your PSU to come from.  I prefer SeaSonic's actual PSU's over those they OEM for others but they are all still top quality.

And if they really powered those cards on a 750 watt PSU (regardless of brand), someone should be getting fired right now.
