So include an expensive peripheral to do a feature that was already possible without it...seems like a good idea.

Well, Kinect does more right.  It recognize the controller and the person holding the controller.  It automatically setup the controller based on your profile.  It migth also setup the controller based on you and the game you are playing.  So every time you play an FPS game it automatically grab those settings but then you might play COD with different settings and it customize the game based on that.  Give the controller to someone else and if their profile is on your console or maybe even in the cloud, bam its like you are playing at home.

What it appers to me is that MS is putting a lot of time and thought into Kinect for games and even for non game type scenerios with navigation and voice.  the reason Kinect is with every X1 because its MS way to separate the X1 from all other competition and devices that just play games.

The controller thing is a little feature but if MS can continue to bring little features that make you feel this is something last gen did not offer, the experience as a whole could be a killer app.

Right now, I see more of these type of features coming out from MS than Sony.  It appears every week you hear a little bit more how Kinect improves the overall experience of the console.  Hofully MS has some demos of how Kinect can do that within games to make the extra hondo worth the price for the system.

hmmm man I admire your dedication... I think you are better off leaving those kind of thread die off... the Kinect haters and Sony fan base Kinect haters are just too overwhelming... it's like a herd of predators hunting an injured prey.... lol

and they'll always come at you with an argument telling you they don't care about those features and certainly not with a 100 bucks more to pay for it....

what I find funny is I hope those people are not the one buying iPads and high end phones at launch such as  Samsung GS4 or iPhone, or even MBPs cause it makes their argument for a 100 bucks quiet laughable IMO.... because if there is something today that is really overpriced for no valid reason AT ALL it is those products...

but hey congrats on fighting the good fight, me I gave up.... I will enjoy my high end "gimmick", as they love to say, to optimize my entertainment time while they'll be button mashing in menus and wasting time in dashboards and everybody is happy, well at least I will be....

It's true that the site has a lot of people that dislike Kinect, but let's be fair here.  The argument in the OP is simply terrible.  I mean really read it, it's awful.  You and Machiavellian have made some good arguments for things that the Kinect is bringing, and I'm glad you did, but you can't fault a bunch of people in this specific thread poo pooing on a simply worthless argument from the OP.

are you joking hear, isnt the light on the ps4 controller so the ps4 camera can recognise it like the old ps3 move controller? you know, so it recognises the player, so you can play fps games like killzone did, how many fps kinnect games were their?

i still don't see why is has to be included

The light on the PS4 controller lets the console know where the controller is but the last time I checked, the PS4 does not identify the person HOLDING the controller.  Sony has made no statement that the PSeye knows who you are, can pick you out and load your profile or can even find you in the cloud.  These are things that even the Kinect 1 can do besides the cloud part.

The only thing Sony showed about the light on the controller is that if the controller moves, the screen with switch to the other side.  This is great but very limited.

That light is useless now since you need the ps eye for it to work.

Its true that it will be MS job to show the advantages of Kinect 2 instead of us here talking about its features.  I know what I want from the device and it appears MS is going down that route so I see benefit in it.  I want IBM Watson.  Watson convince me that very soon you will be able to naturally speak to a device and it will understand you and do what you ask.  This seems like where MS is headed with voice.  It also might be one of the reasons they are spending so much money on their cloud infrastructure and why they wanted an always online console.

Anyway, we all have to remember that you cannot change a person mind.  Most of us are not open to new or different opinions.  Instead once we think a certain way only time and continue evidense that we are wrong usually changes most people minds on a subject.  I never try to change anyone point of view, I just share my own.  I actually like to have my viewpoint challenge if the person knows what they are talking about.  Even if I do not agree, I always respect their view point and sometimes I find out, I did not know what I thought I did.
