Forums - Microsoft - XB1 Kinect Haters, Do you know what controller you're holding

I don't hate that feature at all. I think that it is really neat and convinent and I can't wait until release date.

So include an expensive peripheral to do a feature that was already possible without it...seems like a good idea.

Well, Kinect does more right.  It recognize the controller and the person holding the controller.  It automatically setup the controller based on your profile.  It migth also setup the controller based on you and the game you are playing.  So every time you play an FPS game it automatically grab those settings but then you might play COD with different settings and it customize the game based on that.  Give the controller to someone else and if their profile is on your console or maybe even in the cloud, bam its like you are playing at home.

What it appers to me is that MS is putting a lot of time and thought into Kinect for games and even for non game type scenerios with navigation and voice.  the reason Kinect is with every X1 because its MS way to separate the X1 from all other competition and devices that just play games.

The controller thing is a little feature but if MS can continue to bring little features that make you feel this is something last gen did not offer, the experience as a whole could be a killer app.

Right now, I see more of these type of features coming out from MS than Sony.  It appears every week you hear a little bit more how Kinect improves the overall experience of the console.  Hofully MS has some demos of how Kinect can do that within games to make the extra hondo worth the price for the system.

are you joking hear, isnt the light on the ps4 controller so the ps4 camera can recognise it like the old ps3 move controller? you know, so it recognises the player, so you can play fps games like killzone did, how many fps kinnect games were their?

i still don't see why is has to be included

The light on the PS4 controller lets the console know where the controller is but the last time I checked, the PS4 does not identify the person HOLDING the controller.  Sony has made no statement that the PSeye knows who you are, can pick you out and load your profile or can even find you in the cloud.  These are things that even the Kinect 1 can do besides the cloud part.

The only thing Sony showed about the light on the controller is that if you controller moves, the screen with switch to the other side.  This is great but very limited.

That light is useless now since you need the ps eye for it to work.

id rather choose to have it than be forced to have it, lets face it....not everyone wants the camera

Like how sony forced blu ray onto people?

Similar idea. But different. One, A bluray player is internal. No visible useless object or setup is needed. And DVD's weren't disallowed or something else dumb. Kinect is forced in order to even use the console. Only the price point was the PS3's enemy. Kinect has more negatives for a person who doesn't want it.

Really, internal memory on the controller would have done the trick, too. Hell, NINTENDO gave you the option to to save your Mii's and custom control schemes (Super Smash Bros. Brawl, for example) onto your Wiimote on the Wii. It's just another conveniant excuse to justify forced Kinect.

hmmm man I admire your dedication... I think you are better off leaving those kind of thread die off... the Kinect haters and Sony fan base Kinect haters are just too overwhelming... it's like a herd of predators hunting an injured prey.... lol

and they'll always come at you with an argument telling you they don't care about those features and certainly not with a 100 bucks more to pay for it....

what I find funny is I hope those people are not the one buying iPads and high end phones at launch such as  Samsung GS4 or iPhone, or even MBPs cause it makes their argument for a 100 bucks quiet laughable IMO.... because if there is something today that is really overpriced for no valid reason AT ALL it is those products...

but hey congrats on fighting the good fight, me I gave up.... I will enjoy my high end "gimmick", as they love to say, to optimize my entertainment time while they'll be button mashing in menus and wasting time in dashboards and everybody is happy, well at least I will be....

Its true that it will be MS job to show the advantages of Kinect 2 instead of us here talking about its features.  I know what I want from the device and it appears MS is going down that route so I see benefit in it.  I want IBM Watson.  Watson convince me that very soon you will be able to naturally speak to a device and it will understand you and do what you ask.  This seems like where MS is headed with voice.  It also might be one of the reasons they are spending so much money on their cloud infrastructure and why they wanted an always online console.

Anyway, we all have to remember that you cannot change a person mind.  Most of us are not open to new or different opinions.  Instead once we think a certain way only time and continue evidense that we are wrong usually changes most people minds on a subject.  I never try to change anyone point of view, I just share my own.  I actually like to have my viewpoint challenge if the person knows what they are talking about.  Even if I do not agree, I always respect their view point and sometimes I find out, I did not know what I thought I did.

well my issue here is not their opinion and I'm done trying to change their mind because I don't really care at the end.... what I have issue with is consitency, when you see people use an argument in one convo (it's too expensive because of the stupid kinect I don't wanna use) but you see them throw money for other products way over the value of the hardware for NO, ZERO, NADA added advantage beside maube design which is completely opinion based and doesn't usually justify the price hike... to me it voids completely their credibility in the conversation....

it's be like fisherman trying to tell you hunting is bad....

What the hell are you talking about with the "more negatives"... Not different at all; both included with/in the console and forced by MS/Sony and both adding additional features, nothing negative (the fact you do not care about the features is another thing).

The only negatives are for people believing in big conspiracies which is hilarious :)

Kinect Negatives to people who don't like it:

Forced to put something on top of your TV. Extra setup for a device the person doesn't want.

Added cost to overall system.

Forced to be pluged in to just turn system on.

Bluray drive Negatives:

It's reads slow.

It made the cost of the console too high for several years.

A Bluray drive in the end doesn't dissallow CD or DVD usage. You aren't forced to buy a HDTV with the PS3. And it's your system disc drive. Which you do need.

The Kinect is a added external device. That just adds voice control options, camera tracking, and video conferencing. All of which aren't overall needed to run the system. Now if the Xbox One didn't come with a regualar controller. Then it be a different story. I see Kinect like the Wii Remote being forced to operate the Wii Menu. Nintendo shouldn't of done this. Especially with people launching Brawl and only used the Pro/GC controller.  Or when Nintendo only allowed the Weather and News channels to work with WC24 enabled, why? Same annoyance with the Kinect. I hate the Kinect for these reasons. But I don't hate the Kinect existing. I'd just like a choice to not use it. Like I would like a choice to expand my storage space on iPhone with SD Cards. But Apple fails in this area. So I don't own a iPhone.
