MS didn't violate anything, they complied to govermental requests. if tomorrow the NSA contacts vgchartz with a court order and ask you to reveal all the private messages I sent on that site with valid ground, you do it and you stfu, it's not like you have the choice. So what MS did is pretty much what anybody does in the same situation they apply the law, if they can deny a request they do, if they can't they comply. simple as that

What valid ground was there in the PRISM Scandal? This is why it's called a Scandal, and Microsoft participating, just means that we can't trust them.

Microsoft, like VGC, is bound by contract to keep our information private, and if MS wanted to they could have made it a long and public process before they gave up private information. MS didn't fight for our security, they just gave away the keys to our privacy.

Meanwhile companies like Firefox are making a public petition to this, and making people aware that their "private browsing" is not private. Microsoft never did this, and still doesn't. You must be crazy to think that MS is going to put a sticker on your X-Box One console telling you who is watching you.

No, if MS wanted to agressively stop government spying, they would have designed the One where Kinect can be unplugged and turned off entirely. This way if NSA or anyone requests private information, they can't get it because they themselves can't access it. But no, Kinect always listens, and faces you. Sure there is a setting to filter what it's listening for, but how can you trust that after Microsofts involvement in the PRISM scandal?

the PRISM scandal is the governement responsability, MS just complied with the law. So they didn't participate in anything once again, nobody on US ground had any choice in the matter if the NSA or any other participating bodies where asking for anything.
The valid ground of PRISM is not debatable by MS or by you or by anybody when it was in application, in other word once again if they had knocked on VGchartz door it would have been the same.
I'm not forgiving anything, there is nothing to forgive, the only one that fucked up is the US gov period.

and for the gazillion time, there is no way MS will be spying with kinect. it is not only plain dumb and useless (beside for marketing use and in that case if it happens you'll have it writen in the TOS) but also wouldn't work more than 10 seconds, cause you can be offline first, and there is absolutely no way for anybody to collect data issued from my own network without me knowing or at least willingly broadcasting them... so if even me a low level geek can be close to 100% stealth with my local network even to the NSA if I want to, there is no way the kinect is gonna be even thought of for a spying device cause it wouldn't be viable.... because it is way easier for them to spy from the outside than hack in somebody network especially if they are engaged in sensible activities and therefor use ven higher level of protection than most people

and for the last time public privacy hasn't been compromised, the PRISM scandal doesn't concern the public but specific people.... enough with the public privacy, the NSA doesn't give a rats ass about you.....

so yeah PRISM is scandalous, MS has been abused in the process and its integrity compromised.... but any regular joe doubting its privacy isn't safe with MS and kinect or any other company involved is just a fool (sorry but that's true) because nobody is concerned directly, it's not like 300 million americans been spyed on.... it's like a 100 maybe 1000 maybe 10000 guys that have been on the radar for a while and would have been with or without PRISM.... so once again it is completely irrelevant to the millions of the majority of MS consumers and even less of the XB kinect consumer..... but if you have time to waste thinking that or would sucomb to paranoia rather than use usefull services or entertianement systems, you are free to do so, just stop trying to convince everybody of an impossibility.... and stop using any of those services because if they want to spy on you they will no matter what.. you are the only one that can protect your information and that implies either not using anything sensible or taking the right step to do so. Apple flat out ignored the NSA when Steve Jobs was around. In reality any company can refuse to co-operate, but they will be prosecuted federally for contempt. Microsoft, Apple, and many large corporations have lots of money. They can loose a lawsuit here and there and still be fine. MS could have done a lot more to protect our information.

Also it's something in the order of 30,000 plus accounts having information accessed by 3rd party's, and foreign governments. 30,000 people is a lot of people, and it's not just CEO's, it could be anyone.

Microsoft claims to only have given information when "issued a legally binding order or subpoena" but in reality Microsoft actually helped the NSA get access to information. They did this without being forced to...

Also below is a good article why we can't trust MS anymore. If MS could have refused co-operating like the old Apple, but didn't, then why should we trust them? From what I read, MS didn't even put up a fight, they may not even have been subpoena'd. They were just asked, and and Microsoft responded with "how many accounts?" Plus MS didn't require NSA to request information on an acount by acount basis, they just gave them straight access to anyones account.

So if the NSA wanted to view my private e-mails, without ground, they could have. Microsoft did not need to supply that much free access, they were not bound to so legally. This is why we can't trust MS anymore.
