No, I'm attributing fault where fault need to be attributed. Microsoft is still in control of X-Box, your X-Box live account is still a windows live account, which is exactly what was compromised.

If I could make an XBL id without a Windows Live account, and still play games, then this wouldn't be an issue, but even with a google account, you're still required to make an XBL Live login, so you're X-Box is still linked to exactly what was compromised before.

---

As for analogies, when a new model of cars is released, it's reiability and quality are generally going to mimic the parent company. i.e. If Crysler makes crap, chances are their new SUV will also be crap.

I mentioned this to help demonstrate how your willingness to forget Microsofts sequrity issues is flawed.

And LOL and Fiat improving Crysler. Fiat is known to be among the least reliable car companies in Europe, this is hardly an improvement. Maybe I don't have to worry about my tires falling off anymore, but Crysler will still always be a shitbox safety hazard producer.

A

Outlook and hotmail are not exactly the same...to my knowledge. But the data in question were emails. If you don't send emails on your Xbox, your fine. Again, "Xbox" was not mentioned, despite having access to things like Skype.

Actually, Outlook and Hotmail are exactly the same thing now. I have a hotmail account, and it forced me to update/upgrade to an outlook account. So my hotmail account is indestinguishable from an outlook account now.

LOL, the issue isn't e-mails. NSA asked Microsoft for permission to access information on individuals users. Ms gave them unrestricted access. E-mails and personal information were compromised to 3rd party companies. The only reason more wasn't compromised was because nothing else is accosiated with your e-mail account, except maybe your achievements and purchase history over XBL. Why mention XBL when all it stores is trivial information ATM?

With One, if this happens again, this means that 3rd party companies will be able to view me. They will know how many people live in my house, my physical build, the layout of my interrior, everything. This is why this is an issue.

----

Can't let the illegal prostitutes roam freely anymore, gotta keeps them in cages now

Actually if you read it MS did not give unrestricted access. You just hope they do for some reason. 3rd party companies can't see anything. This is a government NON-issue remember?

Xbox 360 seems to be not on their list, and X1 should be too. MS has divulged enough to satisfy all but the most paranoid people.

Maybe you should start focusing on your phone and internet history....you know, things that have a far more liklihood of being tapped?

Sure they might not track with Kinect but NSA is tracking any browser activity on Xbox One.  NSA files must be loaded with porn.

just unplug kinect, it doesnt need to be connected. its as simple as that

Actually it does

but it can be turned off.

Sure you can say that hackers can access your camera while its off like in any laptop, but then thats a hacker thing, not the governments. And that certainly would say something about you and the enemies you make. But this is a extreme minority thing, something that can be prevented with a stick of tape, something many do on their web cam standard laptops.

It can't be turned off, it can only be "paused."

Paused is not off... and it's stupid that I can't physically unplug it.

Did you not say to use analogies? I have a Camera in my laptop, but it can be disabled. I also run my computer on an old version of Ubuntu which has no program to access the camera, so it's 100% useless on my laptop.

If I still had Windows, I would be worried about privacy invasion behind a camera if it was a problem, but I haven't heard about any scandals or serious comprimises in security (except Skype in this scandal, but I don't use skype).

I hope they did? No, if you read NSA asked for free access of specific accounts and got free access to those accounts. It wasn't a 1 time viewing, it was consistant, unlimited access to requested accounts.

When One releases, it provides a boatload more information for the NSA. They will ask, and they will recieve.

As for my internet history, it's bad enough that google sells our history, but when I view my porn, at least Mozilla has private viewing, and from what I read, Mozilla does not co-operate with the NSA.

So I'm safe to look at all my freaky shit.

How about just not making the thing required to be connected all the time...

If they release the rumored non kinect bundle in 2014, theres your solution

This isn't going to happen. Apparently the Kinect seonsor costs nearly as much as the system. This is why the One is $100 more then the PS4 despite having inferior performance parts.

It can be turned off. MS takes privacy very seriously. Xbox is not on the governments radar, and you are now going into weird territory by persisting.

Well.....

My Camera doesn't work with my OS, and I don't have a school computer. So I'm safe.

Why do Americans sue each other so much? What are you sueing for here? I hope the parents paid every student who had a school laptop and equal share of the profit generated from court....

" They will ask, and they will recieve."

Presumptous much?

Now your really going into irrational territory. The government cares about phone and internet records, not gaming consoles. Xbox 360 and its kinect was not mentioned as devices that MS was asked to divulge. They say Kinect has numerous privacy settings and that they would aggressively appeal any future requests that would harm their relationship with consumers.

They said all they need to. People like you just show your true colors now. Get real, and stop being full of yourself. Assuming your so damn important that the government wants to spy on you.....disregarding your phone records but ripping on a not-released console that MS has confirmed to never give Xbox related information in the past and will fight against in the future.

But the article itself says Kinect has to be on and plugged in while you're playing the game.

Who cares if it's off when you leave the house, I want it off when I'm present. It can read my heartbeat while I'm playing, just by looking at my face? WHAT?!?!? This just makes the system that much more scary.

Get over yourself. It can be plugged in and still off.

Like plugging in a vacum cleaner to electricity......it can be plugged in and still be off lol. This technology of "being plugged in and still be off" is older then you think lol
