that is a great feat coming from an exclusive game to a platform which isn't even the number 1 selling home console in the UK!!

Apply some logic ffs. Regardless of how good a game is, the only reason it will remain number 1 is because of zero competition. If the game launched in February, would it be number 1 for six weeks and counting? NO.

Let's ignore this shall we?

COD got its record during the holiday season with a lot of competition, the last of us had no compeition. This whole thread is a joke.

Yet it's only the second game this entire generation to accomplish this.
If what you said were true, we'd have a lot more. There are even only a small handful that made it to 5 weeks.
After all, the summer season is more than 13 weeks long.

No positive thread seems to last very long here, does it? It's a damn shame really. Considering CoD has so many sheeps buying it yearly and that the last of us is a new IP, I say it's a great feat regardless of the release date. That being said, It's a ND game, so it's not like it was a completely "out of nowhere" achievement. We all knew TLoU was gonna be a big.

The point is that the summer is an easy time to throw in a great game and have it do good numbers for a good while because for some reason there's little competition in the summer. Nobody wants to release their hits in this time frame, which I have to agree is pretty weird. |
So easy in fact that no one has every done it before!!
So yes COD did it at a much harder time of the year to do it in. But clearly its not easy, otherwise it wouldnt be the first game to equal the record.

Ya I know, that's because nobody wants to release their top tier game in the summer. Which is what I don't get.
Hopefully some publishers/devs will look at the Last of Us performance this summer and realise it's a viable release window. You bring the quality, the customers will bring the cash. Even if it's not the holidays.
