Forums - Gaming - Resident Evil franchise needs a reboot

I bought RE 6 at Steam sales, and i can just say the game sucks. I`ve completed Sherry`s campaign so far and the game just dont make sense. Exaggerated "tension" scenes, the annoying camera, the lack of files explaining the plot (wich plot other than being kidnapped again?), the inventory system, the skills shop, the scenarios and so on. Everything is just so wrong, the game has no coerence. I like the action gameplay RE games took since RE4, im a big fan of 4 and i even say its my favourite in the franchise. RE 4 still had the exploration, RE 5 had less of it but still had some, but RE 6 just POINTS OUT where the keys are and the correct way to go!!!

I wondered how it would be a game whitout Wesker, and i had my answer. The franchise needs to go back to its roots with fear in every corner, making us save ammo as much as we can, giving us back the puzzles and exploration and most importantly the MISTERY that made the PS1 installments so charming. I`m just glad i bought at a discount for PC, the gameplay had benefits with mouse and keyboard. If i`ve bought the game at full price for my PS3 i would just hate me forever for that...

Honestly I think RE6 is complete shit.  I do not own it, but I borrowed it from my friend, played a couple hours of it, then gave it back to him.  Honestly I don't think there should be a RE7, I think they should revamp the series and start at RE1 again.  It feels like the games have been getting worse and worse, RE4 was great, RE5 was good-okay, and RE6 was just bad.  This is especially surprising considering they just put out RE Revelations which was received very well.  I think they need more of Revelations and less of RE6.

No, Resident Evil needs to die. There's no one left with neither the talent nor the budget and dedication at Capcom who could make the series worthwhile again.

i agree more game like : revelations in the series. would bring it back to its roots and bring back the fans as well.

I like it.

What would a reboot accomplish? Going back to the wesker and Chris/Jill sandwich mansion? The Wesker Saga ended on resident evil 5. there was closure.

Revelations is pretty good aswell. It set up a backstory for the future of the series.

Resident evil 6 just went with a silly story, didnt have claire for a more humane aproach and was more about taking it to the zombies face instead of a "what the hell is going on? How do i survive this/get out of here" vibe. But if you watch the CG movie, you will grow to care more about the story.

I dont think it deseves the criticism all across the board it gets.

They should have single characters , no more of that partner stuff and a max of 2 storylines. Press on on the survival horror aspect and less on the all out shooter. Make it about the character and less about the whole world we have to save!

I loved RE6.

They made Revelations a great resident evil game and they didn't need to reboot it this has to do with them choosing a direction for this series that the fans dont want it does not require them to reboot the series to take it back to it's roots.I know it's easy to say scrape everything and go back to the beginning but what will that do it they want it to be Call of Duty it will still be that way in the Mansion.

I don't think it needs a reboot. It just needs the right people working on it and for Capcom to stop forcing them to turn it into an action movie.

Currently playing:

Bloodbath Paddy Wagon Ultra 9

The game isn't bad but it had a bad inventory system and the camera is sometimes annoying. This is a game that have scenes that looks like it was directed by Micheal Bay.

I liked Re6... Mercenaries mode is awesome, and would be a pretty good game by itself.

The game is like a B-Movie Extravaganza so it is entertaining to me. It's not a masterpiece, and it has a ton of problems but it was a lot of fun.

That said it needs to decide what it wants to be. And get rid of the really dumb QTE's that plague single player. 4 and 5 and a ton of polish to it. While 6 single/co-op campaign was a mess of trying to be action, trying to be horror, trying to be cinematic. etc. I'm not really for reboots, they should just create a new series if they need to reboot imo.
