Forums - Microsoft - Dead Rising 3 won't force progression, side story available via Xbox SmartGlass

The timer made the game. Without that pressure there is no challenge whatsoever. ...and no, an optional mode doesn't matter if the base game isn't designed around the timer.

Challenge? I'm sorry but when I want a challenge, I don't play Dead Rising

I bought the original Dead Rising because I wanted a fun game to mess around and butcher zombies in any number of brutal, hilarious ways. The game wasn't challenging to me at all. All the timer did, was reign back my ability to goof off and enjoy the sandbox.

Bad casuals?

Elitist much?

I have Dark Souls 100% completed with full gamerscore, and I'm more than happy to see the timer become optional. The game will be more fun without it, in my "decent gamer" opinion.

I'm all for the no timer. That's the thing I disliked most about Dead Rising games.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

No timer, it's not Dead rising anymore. Sure my first play through failed horribly, but the second was sublime because of it. Then try to be even more efficient on a 3rd play through.
Btw I don't have a smart glass device, does that mean I'll be missing a lot?

You won't get the 100% experience, but you don't miss any fundamental stuff. Without the device, you'll complete like the 90% of the game.

I know some of the fans are hating on this already, but to be honest Dead Rising games were never good, and major changes can only help it.

I guess that's a subjective statement, right?

Perhaps, yeah, but what is the point of saying that. We could just say that about any game really. "Duke Nukem forever is a bad game" ... that is subjective. "Silent Hill 2 is a great game" ... that is subjective ect.

There are aspects of games that are not subjective though such as technical glitches, graphical power, ect. ect.

I never cared for Dead Rising though. Maybe it was because I had too high of expectations for it or something, but the silly nature of the game, restrictive time limit, and inane nature of the combat just made it come across as decent at best to me. Hopefully, the new features of DR3 make it more enjoyable.

Whoa....people not likeing the removal of a clock? That historically brings down the enjoyment of any game its implemented in.

Free world exploration anyday, basically GTA with zombies.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

The clock added a lot to the immersion, some urgency instead of: Oh well he's under attack calling for help, but I'll first help this lady cross the street, do some jumps, break some crates, pick a few flowers and when I happen to be in the neighbourhood he'll still be there exactly the same as 2 hours ago.
It's the same as removing the clock from Tokyo Jungle, makes a completely different game. Indeed just GTA with zombies.
