Forums - Sony - Last Of Us. Whats the fuss? Spoilers

Ok, I feel like we are just heading down a downward spiral, I am sorry for my comments about calling you a fanboy and everything else that I said that might have offended you.

When it comes to gameplay, the game has to feel fresh and new for it to get a 10 in terms of gameplay.  With the last of us, every puzzle involves a conveniently located plank, ladder or raft, that you use to get over an obstacle.  It almost feels like it was completely pointless to put those puzzles in at all.   The combat itself is near identicle to uncharted, and what makes it worse is that because of how frequent the checkpoints are saved, if you die you basically don't lose any progress at all.  Now, the AI is pretty bad, you can assasinate people by approaching them diagnoly rather than directly behind them.  Also, if you get in view of an enemy human and then quickly get out of site, he won't notice you.  And don't even get me started about Ellie.....anyways, the point is that while the gameplay is pretty good, they took some stuff from ZombiU that I really enjoyed, nothing is original, and there were a lot of bugs that should have been fixed.  But the issue with docking points for mario not having a story, is like saying that Chess should lose points because their is no story in the board game Chess......it's not a good argument, games don't HAVE to have stories, they HAVE to be fun, and while games don't need good stories to be fun, they do need good gameplay to be fun otherwise you might as well read a book or watch a movie.

lol are we really at that stage where bullshit is made up to support a poor argument?

the diagonal approach thing is true to an extent... but stealth is about if you're out of sight not about what angle you approach from lol

"But again, games like Bioshock, Metro 2033 have way more atmosphere and much better storytelling. "

Just no...

Metro...seriously? Bioshock could be seen as on par, but that's really mostly through the gameplay.

Also, TLoU does look at least on par with UC3.

Not surprised that you'd make this thread, though.

First Bioshock is one of best environmental storytelling games in last 15 years, which is order of magnitude harder to make properly than usual cinematic approach. Honestly, considering how much that game improved old, worn-out FPS genre, I would consider it much more important than anything else that came since, even though, subjectively, there are games I enjoyed more.

The Last of Us does environmental storytelling as much as Bioshock, but it also couples it with traditional cut-scenes. I enjoyed Bioshock Infinite quite a lot, but its characters aren't nearly as well fleshed out as the ones in TLoU. Story is good overall, but most of what is important in it happens during the last few hours.
The rest isn't nearly as engaging emotionally as what you find during the whole of TLoU.

Stop supporting this thread people. Multimedia isnt necessarily the greatest source for a sony game.

The game is superb in almost every category. yes it has some flaws but it is also one of the best overall games that we have had.

If he genuinely doesnt like it that is fine, but dont take his opinion as fact. The more you all comment in this thread the more attention it will get.

I was talking about Bioshock 1. Game that proved that there are still developers who are willing to make exceptional stories in incredible settings (and what a story and setting that was) in ways that are very unique to games, without reaching unnecessary into bag of Hollywood solutions.

My point still stands.

1. Did we play the same games? The gameplay is not even close to being the same.

2. The fuck? Like what?

1: Come on Pezus! It's a third person game just like Uncharted. And it's made by the same team that did Uncharted 2. So it's the same exact gameplay!!!

2: Like everything is in real time. You know?  Joel looks into his bag when he takes his gear out of it, and the action doesn't pause. Just like you watch the gamepad screen in ZombiU when you search for gear, in real time. ZombiU is the very first game ever to have done that, and everything that came before don't exist, and everything that comes after it is just a copy.  ¬_¬

1. Don't be rude, it makes you look childish.

2. I didn't say anything like that at all, I was merely pointing out that I liked how a few of the features in ZombiU they incorperated into TLOU, I never said ZOMBIU did it first, get your facts straight before using sarcasm to put people down.

1: What? You're saying the combat is near identical to Uncharted and call it a negative. It's quite different, actually. Especially the flow of it and the crafting elements thrown in. But yeah, it's a third person game. You press buttons to punch and grab enemies... ¬_¬

2: Are you kidding me? Here's what you said:  "they took some stuff from ZombiU that I really enjoyed, nothing is original".

Even if you don't say ZombiU "did it first", you're complaining about TLoU for not being original because it's doing things you've seen in ZombiU, but you're not complaining about ZombiU in the same fashion. Implying that you think ZombiU did it all first and is original.

Nice try though.

Moral of the story is dont explain your opinion or you will be attacked as shown above and all through this thread.

What point exactly, except different strokes for different folks, what OP pretty much is all about? I personally find Bioshock 1 leaps and bounds more immersive and engaging than TLoU.
