I said games get lower because they simply aren't as good games. Up until your last post, you failed to acknowledge that both galaxy games are scored higher on gamerankings, nor did you acknowledge that I averaged them both to determine that galaxy 1 is the highest ranked game of this gen. You claimed that mario galaxy has the same story, which is correct, but you fail to understand that It's gameplay overcomes it's lack of story, just like how TLOU's story overcomes it's lack of interesting gameplay. You are correct that Quarter to 3 generally scores the opposite direction, but you failed to acknowledge that even without that score TLOU would still be ranked lower than both mario galaxy games. That's where you go wrong, you lost the argument, and if calling you a fanboy when you clearly are acting like one isn't tolerated, then so be it. You have clearly lost this argument, |
No, you said they are scored lower because they stop innovating or a better way to put it is can't innovate enough because the competition already had the whole gen to come up with different ways. That in no way disproves what I said that games do get scored lower at the end of the gen so you didn't disprove that at all but instead just agreed with me. +1 for me. Are you really saying because I didn't say Mario galaxy was higher on gamerankings at first means I didn't aknowledge it? What a stupid and childing reason, I simply stated Grand theft auto is rated higher and it is above both on metacritic and that defeats your purpose on saying it is game of the gen from the reviews. At least you can see the story is the same but you can't really get out of that one by saying TLOU doesn't have interesting gameplay but Mario galaxy does, that is an opinion and not fact like the same story. Another +1 for me. I am also right about Quarter to 3. +1 for me again. As for "acknowledge that even without the score TLOU would still be ranked lower than both mario galaxy games", why would I say that if I never said it would, I just stated the Mario galaxy games didn't have to deal with stuff like that and in no way said it would be higher than them if the troll reviews were taken away so +1 for me again. As for the last thing, how did you average the scores? Because as I see it if you average gameranking and metacritic for all 3 games seperately, Grand theft auto still wins, atleast against smg2. Your whole argument has bad reasoning behind it and you didn't provide anything to back up your claims so I still win unless you can actually provide reasons instead of bs.

Ok, I feel like we are just heading down a downward spiral, I am sorry for my comments about calling you a fanboy and everything else that I said that might have offended you. When it comes to gameplay, the game has to feel fresh and new for it to get a 10 in terms of gameplay. With the last of us, every puzzle involves a conveniently located plank, ladder or raft, that you use to get over an obstacle. It almost feels like it was completely pointless to put those puzzles in at all. The combat itself is near identicle to uncharted, and what makes it worse is that because of how frequent the checkpoints are saved, if you die you basically don't lose any progress at all. Now, the AI is pretty bad, you can assasinate people by approaching them diagnoly rather than directly behind them. Also, if you get in view of an enemy human and then quickly get out of site, he won't notice you. And don't even get me started about Ellie.....anyways, the point is that while the gameplay is pretty good, they took some stuff from ZombiU that I really enjoyed, nothing is original, and there were a lot of bugs that should have been fixed. But the issue with docking points for mario not having a story, is like saying that Chess should lose points because their is no story in the board game Chess......it's not a good argument, games don't HAVE to have stories, they HAVE to be fun, and while games don't need good stories to be fun, they do need good gameplay to be fun otherwise you might as well read a book or watch a movie. |
Yeah, I get it. But to say that one game relies on good gameplay, while the others doesn't it just wrong. Good gameplay is subjective. My platformer of the gen is Super Mario Galaxy. No contest there. But I enjoyed the gameplay in TLoU more because to me, it was more immersive and more my type of games. Yes, the atmosphere and story play a huge role in my appreciation of it. But the gameplay compliments the story very well, unlike any other games so far in my book. Both games have stellar gameplay. None of them reinvents the wheel, but the experience for both is polished to new heights, and I'm more than fine with that.
Well I totally expected this type of a "review" from you. Nice profile pic and username!

| pezus said: Also, TLoU does look at least on par with UC3. Not surprised that you'd make this thread, though. |
I don't understand the complaints about the graphics in TLoU. And I'm PC gamer.
But being a PC gamer is probably the very reason some people are mentioning the graphics negatively. This late in the gen, a lot of gamers have now switched to PC gaming, in wait of the next gen. And it affects their judgement. That's my 2 cents, but it may not apply to everyone.
Personally, I think The Last of Us is one of the most impressive games on the PS3 from a graphics perspective. People going into it saying "heh, that's low res texture there..." clearly haven't played many games on console during the course of this gen.

Alright, this has been fun, sorry for anything I offended you with, but I gotta go. Oh, and those plus 1's you gave yourself made me laugh:) I don't mean that in a rude way, I really did enjoy it, I think I'll give myself a +1 for that lol. But lets just say we agree to disagree and move on with our lives. toodles.

1. Did we play the same games? The gameplay is not even close to being the same. 2. The fuck? Like what? |
1: Come on Pezus! It's a third person game just like Uncharted. And it's made by the same team that did Uncharted 2. So it's the same exact gameplay!!!
2: Like everything is in real time. You know? Joel looks into his bag when he takes his gear out of it, and the action doesn't pause. Just like you watch the gamepad screen in ZombiU when you search for gear, in real time. ZombiU is the very first game ever to have done that, and everything that came before don't exist, and everything that comes after it is just a copy. ¬_¬

Lol "overrated"...God damn man you use this word too much. You just remind me of that grumpy cat meme everytime I see one of your posts. Such a hispter bro...

I'm a PC gamer too, and TLoU is one of very few games in recent years where I haven't noticed many of the usual graphical blemishes in PS3 games. The character models, the effects, the lighting, the animations and the fluidity of everything...and not to mention the artstyle... are just amazing. The detail ND always manage to put into everything is unmatched. PC games may have higher resolutions, better AA, higher quality effects etc. yet somehow ND always manages to impress. I agree with you there. Looking at the game as a whole, I'd say it's probably the best looking game on PS3 in my opinion. |
You tell me. Prior to playing The Last of Us, I was playing games on my PC. And I play most of them on max settings in 1080p. Bioshock Infinite looks incredibly good in its DirectX 11 glory.
Yet when I played The Last of Us, I switched from max setting gameplay on PC, to a 720p native game with some not so great anti-aliasing compared to what I was used to for the last few months. I did notice those things at first. But after a short while, it didn't bother me at all anymore, and I was actually impressed by the graphics. "My, this looks so good" was thought quite a lot throughout my experience. Some people expect way more than I do, I guess. Since even with its 480p graphics, on a 1080p screen, I still think Super Mario Galaxy looks amazing.
