If it's your favorite game of the generation that's great. If you disagree with some of the reviews that's your problem. But Mario galaxy 1 and 2 are ranked higher on both gamerankings and metacritic, so as of right now mario galaxy 1 is the game of the generation, end of story. |
If you are going by score Grand theft auto is the game of the gen, but again you and everyone else know that games releaseed earlier in the gen have a higher chance of getting rated higher, a 95 for The Last of Us even with the troll reviews that mario galaxy didn't have to deal with like quarter to 3 with 6/10 means it would be a 97-98 easily 3 years ago. So the praise of game of the gen is easily justified when it was released at the end of the gen with such good reviews.

Grand theft auto 4 has a 97.04% on gamerankings based on 60 reviews.
So since Mario galaxy is number 2 on metacritic and number 1 on gamerankings
while grandtheft auto is 3rd on gamerankings and 1 on metacritic, based on average mario galaxy 1 is the game of the generation.
So your argument is invalid.
Like I originally said, if you don't like the review, that's your problem. Quarter to 3 didn't like the gameplay, so they gave it a bad review, but even without that bad review, mario galaxy 1 and 2 are still ranked higher.
Also games generally get higher reviews towards the end of it's lifecycle simply because they stop innovating. Just fixing obvious issue's won't getyou goty awards. So no, TLOU's reviews aren't justified, if they want to be game of the generation then they have to innovate just as much as mario galaxy did, which they did not.
