Anyway, a generation is defined by when a console releases, so it's hardware doesn't have any bearing in that regard. Within a generation there is always going to be the weakest console in terms of hardware. You can't change the definition of a generation by hardware capabilities because it would get very confusing. I don't even think you should be getting in this argument. On the other hand, you could argue about what I said before, that is if the difference in power between GC and PS2 is greater than or less than PS4 and Wii U. I think people generally argue about the last part, but they name their argument wrongly by bringing in "generations", which seems to have become a misnomer at this point as an indication of console power, which it's not.

The Wii U is 8th generation because of when it came out, power should have nothing to do with it. And i have no idea how came to the conclusion that PS4 is 7th generation. It makes no sense at all. Any consoles that launched from 2012 is 8th gen.

umm I have no clue what you are going on about. Gen is determined by sequence anyways not power. When people say wii u is 7th gen, they are talking power wise since it's much closer to ps3/360 then ps4/one.

But graphics don't determine the generation, so that argument wouldn't even be valid.
Maybe the whole generation thing is dumb and pointless anyway.

How can we "say for sure" what the difference is when you yourself just said nobody knows how much more powerful it is? I also like how you're trying to tell me my subjective terminology is incorrect, and then introduce your own subjective terminology.

 

The point is, most Wii U games so far look equal to or, in some cases, even worse than PS360 games. Of course it's the beginning of the console's lifecycle, and by the end of the Wii U's life it will have produced several games that are notably better looking than anything on the 7th gen consoles. But Look at the PS2's launch lineup. There was nothing on the previous gen's consoles that compared to something like Tekken Tag , Dynasty Warriors 2 or Midnight Club, from a graphical standpoint. All signs point to the difference between the PS2 and the 5th gen as being a much bigger leap than the Wii U from the PS360. That's the whole point.
