That made absolutely no sense. Just seems like a very bitter ramble over a few people stating that the Wii U is closer to the 7th gen than the 8th gen in terms of processing power (which it is). Comparing the Wii and Wii U to the PS2 is just ridiculous.

Chronologically Wii U is 8th gen performance wise its 7th gen.

Logic at its finest . Okay no, but Wii U is part of the 8th generation as it competes with sony PS4 and microsoft Xbox One consoles. Maybe it is less powerful than those but it definitely is a 8th gen console.

Part of the problem here is the shorter cycle for the Wii. If PS4 and XB1 have another long cycle like their predecessors and WiiU a short one then it's possible that we'll see 3 Nintendo consoles in the same timeframe as 2 from Sony/MS. At that point either we say that Ninty had two consoles in one gen or the others had consoles that straddled two gens.

Frankly I blame the companies involved. It's simply ridiculous that they should waste their time focussing on sales and profitability when problems like this go unresolved.

Lol. I think you got it confused. Its not about being the weakest console, its grouping consoles with similar graphical capabilities.

Super Nintendo/Megadrive
Sega Saturn/PS/N64
Dreamcast/PS2/Game Cube/Xbox/Wii
X360/PS3/Wii-U
Xbone/PS4

Wii-U is technically an 8th gen console because of the date it was released. Capability wise it is 7th gen. No one can argue these facts.
