actually i suppose it would be extremely annoying in a open world game, if you had to swap every time you cross from one part of town into another and back

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

Or they can put it on Steam so I don't need any discs.

it would probably take all day to download if they did that. It wouldn't suprise me if GTA V was bigger than Max Payne 3 which was about 35gb

Many games on steam allow you to download most of the game beforehand and just simply unlock it at release.

I was wondering can't they do multi layers on DVD9 ????

well anyway.... this is really a non issue.... IMO.... if you have 60 bucks for a game I'm sure you can save up 10 more for a USB key by launch now that you know.... and I don't know why but I don't see the kind of crowd that buys GTA being the same that bought arcade XB 360.....

DVD9 is already a double layer.

But it's possible to have a double layer on the bottom and a double layer on the top.
I have such discs, some PC magazines use them for games/demos etc. but they are prone to error mostly due to scratches.
Also you'd still have to turn the disc upside down ^^

Another victory for Blu-ray.

Which will still have a mandatory install on PS3.

More like another victory for mandatory installs.

Sounds like Rockstar is preppin everybody for next gen =P

(That is how it's going to be with next gen right? or maybe just install and no disc required after?)

What a downgrade.. Disk swapping is an awesome feature.. Makes me use muscles i rarely use..

I enjoyed multiple disk when it came to games like FF8 & FF9 where they had different character art on each disc.  I wouldn't mind if they kept doing it like that.

This is an incredible feat on Xbox 360 given the apparent size of the game. The 8gb install for both versions is annoying though. But blu-ray paid off in the end.

No, the PS3 version will still have a mandatory install. Thus showing how unnecessary Bluray was.

Zing!  Ten points for Gryffindor. (Plus this gen’s DVD drive can push more data per second than the Blu-ray. )

Plus, you can put up to two 16GB flash drives.

Actually, I makes me wonder when they are coming out with a 500GB drive for the X360 E, but that might confuse people with the Xbox One.  So perhaps never?

Actually you can use two 32GB flash drives.

I wish MS would just let us use external hard drives for downloads on the 360. You can use an external hard drive for downloads on the X1.

DVD9 holds about 8.5gb data ??? so since there is an 8gb mandatory install for both formats. I'm sure they are already using dvd9 for the 360 version.

But it looks like it's going to be about 16gb game in total.  8gb data install for textures and sound etc and the other 8gb dvd is the actual data game disc if that makes sense.
