That was kinda thrown out the window with Halo 4. It had a mandatory install for multiplayer.

But Halo 4 was still usable without a mandatory install, right? One just wouldn't be able to use all features  without installing - like in Forza 4(?) where one needed to install the second disc in order to use all cars/tracks?

I always thought that this was kind of the only allowed compromise solution.

Here's the difference. Halo 4 is not fully playable without that mandatory install. While the Forza 4 mandatory install was just for extra cars.

Anyhow, now that USB memory sticks are an option I believe MS is being more loose on these rules.

wait people are actually complaining about not being able to disc swap????? wait I have to go re read that....
yeap I read that right.... a 16gb flash drive is less than 10 bucks now a day heck I even get some for free at convention or trade shows in the past....

Whats wrong with disk swapping, it beats a 5 -10 minute install most PS3 games have.

Unless its a texture pack or something, games don't need installs on 360.

The game world is too big for one disc, therefore disk swapping would've been horrible in this case.

LA Noire with a much smaller game world had to be on 3 discs, because not all story data fit on one and therefore had to include the game world on every single disc.
GTA V has much more content then LA Noire.
