Forums - Microsoft - AllThingsD: Don Mattrick is leaving Microsoft, possibly joining Zynga as CEO

I think the xbox should have remained an always-on console and people who didn't like it should have tried elsewhere. xbox live was known to be constantly populated with users, so MS did not have to worry about that.

Least of all should they listen to the internet, as it's flooded with Sony fans. Why in the hell should MS listen to an audience that isn't even primarily interested in its console.

I for one am very upset at the situation and am sad he's leaving us. He had great ambitions and a big vision for MS and now it's all gone down the drain.

He was responsible for the "stick with X360" comment, right?

That was his answer to a question.."What about people with absolutely no Internet connection?" And he said "We have a Device for that it's called the Xbox 360"...even followed that by saying .."If you absolutely have no internet connection"

Sensationalism took that one out of context..

Isnt this the same guy who just sat there and let Steven Spielberg and some other guy bad mouth gaming in front of his face?

Watching the interview makes it so much worse, imo. Comes off even worse than it could have in text.

"We'll toss the dice however they fall,
And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

out of the frying pan and into the fire..

He followed it with the nuclear submarine comment, which is even worse.

No need to sensationalize this at all.

i am glad this douche is finally where he belongs.

Don Mattrick isn't a douche as much as Jack Tretton is. That and the girl in your avatar.

You'll find a lot of people disagree with you.

Starting with me. Jack's quite the guy, these days at least, but I never was a big fan of Don. Said this years ago and I'll repeat it now: if Major Nelson was the absolute face of the Xbox, they'd have no equal in terms of an all around, good, corporate guy that is alo, quite obviously, a gamer.

Still, these things happen when bad decisions are made (looking at you, Mr Kutaragi), yet the brand will be fine without him.

He was rumored to be leaving for a while now. Michael Pachter even did a prediction on one of his videos.

@happy dolphin: "1Least of all should they listen to the internet, as it's flooded with Sony fans. 2Why in the hell should MS listen to an audience that isn't even primarily interested in its console."

1. what other outlandish conspiracies do you believe in? seriously post some links it'll be a good read.

2. They listened to the lack of pre-orders, not the consumers, then removed the thing to garner back some support. Also there were rumors of pressure from gamestop. I'm also sure that EA was pressuring them about the sharing 1 game 9 times thing as well.

However, I do agree they should have just kept the DRM. Everything as of late coming from them in forms of PR just makes them lose more and more credibility with their wishy-washy flip-flopping double talk.

You're right he should have punched them.

And actually no, he didn't just let them badmouth, they were at the official opening of the Interactive Media Building  at the USC School of Cinematic fine Arts, but the Speilberg quote on videogames was in pair with Lucas.

One can demonize who one wants when it suits him.

But hey, you get CGI's support so that's a good start.

@LemonSlice. Where he said he could sympathize... So yes one can sensationalize that easily and ignore the fact that he gets it but MS is chosing a direction of their own.

Please please please can they get someone to present E3 who I don't want to punch? For the record, most of the people that came after him also annoyed me
