If the Vita is a PS3 in your pocket, but it also is a PS4, but the PS4 can't run PS3 games then how many sheeps do we need to make the Vita an standalone portable like it should be?

i say it is, seeing as how you can play you're PS4 games on it via remote play as long as u have access to a wifi signal

The Vita's real problem is that it is WAY too powerful.

For the sake of argument, so that we can see all the expenses, let's say we've swapped the memory card with an SD, we've pre-paid for seven years of 3G connectivity, and we're marketing the Vita at break even rather than a loss.

How much does this system cost? At least $600 just for the system.

$600?! That's a third more than I spent on my PSP, including the three memory cards and fifteen games! Nobody's picking up a Vita because nobody can afford it. It's massive hardware overkill.

Uhh, no it is not. It is a PS 2.7 in your pocket. It has some very good games, but it is nowhere near a PS4. PR bullshit at its finest.

No, no... the Vita cant become just a PS4 peripheral Sony. That will not save it. No one in their right mind buys a 200+ controller. It needs games, and it needs to not be given up on or you lose customer trust.

Probably not the best idea to market the PS Vita as a $250 portable PS4 controller.

Market the device on its own merits first and foremost. All else being icing.

To me, the way they're marketing this as a portable PS4 tells me they've given up on the Vita's prospects as a standalone unit. And I can't see many people spending $250 on top of the $400 for the PS4 + $60 Games + PS Plus for this. At best, this will be a value add for people who have a Vita already and want a PS4. But that's not a big enough group of people to justify the approach. 

The Vita needs to be a strong dedicated gaming handheld first and foremost. Between that and their resistance to doing a big price cut (which would also help their "remote play" strategy in a big way), I don't have much confidence in Sony's willingness to make that angle work anymore.
