Forums - Nintendo - Can Pikmin 3 take the series to better sales?

That is a pretty high console sold to buying attatch ratio. If that happens it would be impressive. I still doubt it. I will stick with the belief this will have legs to get it sales and not be very big first week.

It is pretty high but I think it can make it. Most Wii U owners will see it as the best game to release on Wii U to date.

It should do at least 100K in both the U.S & Japan so it could reach 300K as long as Europe doesn't completely ignore it.

Around the Network

The attention the game gets is in favor of Pikmin 3. The install base of the WiiU not. I think it will not sell better than the previous entries, it will break 1 million but will not do much more. If it does more, I will be very happy. I will contribute 1 sale.

It depend on how much Nintendo market it, keep the media upto speed with the game. Look at the The Last of Us.

They won't. Nintendo are awful at marketing any of their games besides Mario and Donkey Kong. Hell, they're awful at marketing just about anything these days.

They should do marketing pushes for games like Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101, Bayonetta 2, and X, but I'm sure they won't.

Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem Awakening were marketed incredibly well - especially on the internet. Kid Icarus and Luigi's Mansion also had notable marketing campaigns -

Nintendo is getting better at it at least

I hope so, they really need to push Wii U games that aren't core Nintendo franchises, if they want to attract non-fans.

I think the game will appeal to people who bought the original... and I see it breaking the million mark but I doubt the game will get the franchise to a mass appealing status :/
