I would say probably not. They might (big might) buckle and give a $450 version with a 150 GB HD now that games don't need to be installed.

they don't anymore? wtf? that means developers can't make the games with a necessary install in mind. that means games won't be as good as they could.

or do you just mean that the game has to be in the drive even when fully installed?

It's exactly like the 360 is now in terms of game installs. You don't have to install it if you don't want to.

I guess it doesn't matter too much to me now that I think about it though since I'll be buying most of my games digitally (the only games I'll buy physical are the one's that go on extreme sale on Black Friday and other such events).

@Ethomaz: That's not what I heard. Unless I misunderstood something?

Source?

You need to install the game... PS4 too.

A price cut before release? No way. The internet would never let it go.

lol, I don't think the web will ever let this go either.

Yeah, but why add to it? MS really need some good PR now. This is the first bit of good news since the reveal. Well besides sharing but that got buried beneath all the DRM.

Not with that camera in there.

that would suck for developers. well, at least i think it's a huge advantage if they know the whole game has to be installed from everyone but i might be wrong.

I don't see why not, even with the Kinect bundled. Now that games don't need to be installed just release a console with 100GB Harddrive or whatever.

Yeah I hope there's clarification on that. I could have sworn I saw somewhere that it is going to be like the 360 now. I might have misread something though.

Not really. If they want they can still install all the game or even most of the game. What is an advantage to the developers is the fact that every xbone has a hdd. With the 360 every game had to run straight from the disc since some didn't have a hdd. This won't be a problem with the xbone.

MS is just trying to save itself from itself right now. They straight up LIED about the reasons for the online check-ins and other policies. It was supposedly for a cloud-based connected experience... if that were really the case they wouldn't be able to just change their policies without affecting that experience. Turns out they were just trying to justify sticking it to gamers. I'm glad they changed some of their policies, but really at this point I've already jumped out of the Xboat... I'll see MS for their next console reveal 5 or so years from now and consider what they have to offer then. As it is, my trust is violated and I don't take the position they chose lightly.

I'm by no means praising Sony, they were certainly out of touch with gamers when they released the PS3 at $499/599 and made all kinds of arrogant statements like the "get a second job", PS3 will have "4D", and other crazy stuff. Xbox One is this generations PS3 debacle. MS got way to into themselves and started acting like they always do when they think they can get away with it.

$399 though... not happening. That it involves way too much coordination for them.... changing policies before launch is easier to do than after. Changing the price can easily come 6 or 7 months after release date without losing face. MS did that for the original xbox back in 2002.
