Because Nintendo always profits Microsoft profited off of the 360 and the original Playstation, PS2 and PS3 were all sold at a loss. The PS3 was sold at a massive loss, with Sony bleeding through the teeth, but they deserved that. The Kinect is the reason the Xbone is $100 ontop of the other OS types. Microsoft needs to subsidize their gaming experience for their consumers if they want their sales to jump up at launch.

Microsoft didn't profit off the origional Xbox.
Microsoft also sold the Xbox 360 at a loss early on in it's lifetime.

I'm not saying its a bad thing, companies taking a financial hit to provide us with cheaper hardware benefits everyone, Sony leading the charge in that regard was a good thing for competitive reasons.

However, $100 is a pretty small drop in the bucket this day and age and it probably allows Microsoft some wiggle room over time to drop the prices farther if sales become sluggish.

Makes sense. I read that MS profited early on the 360 so I didnt think the 360 launched at a loss. Thanks for the update.

I wouldnt be suprised if they add a year of XBL, but I dont see more than that.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

Nope. I stand by the Don's words. :)

Also Kinect.

They'd have to get rid of the kinect.

Imagine if MS makes Live free to retaliate against Sony for the DRM mockery.

:D

Don Mattricks words are pointless at this point, they caved on DRM and he said they wouldnt.

hmm, I don't think so unless sales are very low. I think they just want to be profitable from the beginning, whereas Sony doesn't mind taking loses.
