The PS3 was sold at a massive loss, with Sony bleeding through the teeth, but they deserved that. The Kinect is the reason the Xbone is $100 ontop of the other OS types. Microsoft needs to subsidize their gaming experience for their consumers if they want their sales to jump up at launch.

Microsoft didn't profit off the origional Xbox.
Microsoft also sold the Xbox 360 at a loss early on in it's lifetime.
I'm not saying its a bad thing, companies taking a financial hit to provide us with cheaper hardware benefits everyone, Sony leading the charge in that regard was a good thing for competitive reasons.
However, $100 is a pretty small drop in the bucket this day and age and it probably allows Microsoft some wiggle room over time to drop the prices farther if sales become sluggish.

Makes sense. I read that MS profited early on the 360 so I didnt think the 360 launched at a loss. Thanks for the update.
