Your only basic consumer right is having the option to buy the console. Nothing more.

I think the only other companies big enough to compete with the likes of Sony and Nintendo also want to go digital. So just deal with MS.

Sega make a comeback? My eyes can't stop rolling from the thought of that. The Sega we used to love is dead. DEAD!

I'm glad he stopped answering you because you make so little sense.

He is interested in MS' games but they are not allowing him to because they dip into what he considers to be unacceptably bad practices. The guy says to have spent thousands of dollars in xbox games and I would be ready to believe him. If that were the case, then I understand him being upset about the situation given that he actually WANTS  to buy the games but he can't as it goes against his principles.

I'm pretty sure he's aware that he can boycott, which he is doing, but it doesn't change the fact that, to him, MS has the option to not go anti-consumerist and allow him to buy the games they make that he enjoys. That's what he means by basic consumer right, the right to have ownership of the content you purchase. They are not letting him have that basic right though he wants to buy their games.

You're the one making little sense.

He still has the option to play and enjoy Xbox One games. But if going digital is a deal breaker for him, too bad.

MS meeting his needs is not his basic consumer right.

Nah. I prefer to actually own the shit I pay my money for, but good luck to you sir.

Over the last few weeks I began to wonder if I am the only insecure person who has to constantly reaffirm themselves that they are supporting the right company. Judging from numerous posts in Xbox One related threads, I believe that I am not alone. But I am interested to find out exactly how many people are like me. You know, never had any interest in buying the next Microsoft console, but now post in a way that suggests that Microsoft is putting them off with all of their decisions. Consumer rights being the most obvious option to hide one's true intentions.

In the past, did you complain about Xbox Live being a paid service? If yes, you weren't going to buy an Xbox One.

In the past, did you say that you are tired of Halo/Forza/Fable/Gears of War games? If yes, you weren't going to buy an Xbox One.

In the past, did you state that Sony cares more about gamers than any other console manufacturer? If yes, you weren't going to buy an Xbox One.

In the past, did you talk about how the focus on "mature" gaming isn't up your alley? If yes, you weren't going to buy an Xbox One.

In the past, did you troll a lot in Kinect threads? If yes, you weren't going to buy an Xbox One.

So let's come clean, everyone. Microsoft is an evil corporation. Always have been, always will be. Let's not pretend that only now they are bad. Gaming would be better off without them, nothing has changed about that in the last month. The only difference is that now TV would also be better off without them.

You're joking, I'm serious.

I'm not touching the Xbox One - well I am but talking from a hypothetical situation  where money is important and I'm a teenager then I'm not buying one.

I have plenty of money so I buy everything.

Most people here don't "buy everything", they either have a Sony a Nintendo or a Microsoft these days...

Those people who didn't have a Microsoft already were never going to get an Xbox One...They never seemed to care with the removal of things like Other OS on the PS3 saying that "I don't use it anyway"...even though that was about consumer rights.

Now those same people are not getting an Xbox One for those very "consumer rights" reasons.

I made a thread a couple of days ago to find out the motivations of these people but nobody bit and fessed up with some kind of explanation. Even layed out nice and gently making reference to used game sales...where the VGChartz vets seemed to detest such things...now it suddenly doesn't matter and it's all about consumer rights again,

People are strange.

I don't think it comes down to being a fanboy as you seem to be implying Rol, it's worse than that...These people are just selfish who can't empathise with anything that doesn't affect them, not only that, they don't even seem to be able to discuss subjectively such topics that don't affect them...When said topic affects them, they are suddenly pioneers in that area.

SELFISH!

@Choco. To the guy you quoted: yet another glass half full point of view. The xbone is giving xbox fans a console with the content they like, with a list of exclusives that cater to their tastes. Of course if you look only into the negatives you will have no interest in the console. Sounds like a person trying to sway another away from a console that actually has something they might want....

Dam, how quickly you mature on this site.

I'm actually thinking of getting one, despite the consumer problems. However, the problems that exist ARE really bad.
It all depends on this library sharing thing. Support ten friends, and I'll buy it.
It's basically legal piracy.

Please, you are so full of it. There's no way ever you are getting a XboxOne.

Right, so give your money to whoever you want. Nobody is trying to stop you from doing otherwise.

Even if that means you're going to pass on entertainment you want access to.

Me personally, I just despise the Xbot crowd and don't want to be associated with them or their sheep behaviour at all. A few things about the Xbone interested me, but getting that console, joining that group of people is not worth it. Which is why I happily game on my PC, 3DS, and soon to be PS4. The holy trinity of gaming.

ah lol.

I love when they do that... Like it will make their statements more credible :)

BTW, this is the Thread of the Year. Only Rol could pull out a thread like this.

I personally love the 360 but avoid the XboxOne at the moment. The used games doesn't bother me that much but the always online is a BIG turn off for me.

I follow games not platforms. I could literally give two shits about either MS or Sony, but because my favorite franchise Halo is exclusive to MS that is why I've always stuck with Xbox platform, and I don't have the money or time for more than one system.
To be honest, if Halo ever went multiplatform I would probably switch to Playstation, but since that wont happen it's hard to abandon my favorite franchise and I've come to enjoy a lot of other exclusives on the xbox platform as well. I'm still not 100% sure if I'm buying the X1 or Ps4, but when the next Halo rolls out, it's going to be hard to say no to the X1.

nope

It is disingenuous of a company to claim that they are selling a game to you which, in reality, they are only loaning to you. You can think it's just his preference, but you have no knowledge of consumer rights. It's also your choice to pay for a product that is marketted by false advertisement that doesn't make it good.

Since there has been so much hate lately I have sided with Microsoft, but don't come tell me that the guy is in the wrong to call DRM anti-consumerist.
