Forums - Gaming - Am I the only one who pretends to care about consumer rights to bash the Xbox One?

Did you ever plan to buy an Xbox One?

Yes, I liked the Xbox 360. 105 31.82%

No, I was always going to stick with Sony. 92 27.88%

No, I was always going to... 40 12.12%

No, I don't like Microsoft. 63 19.09%

I want my bias to remain a secret. 30 9.09%

Total:330

To be honest, none of the options truly reflected how I felt. I was giving Microsoft a chance but I actually am kind of affected by consumer choices. Even if I weren't, I didn't really troll the XBox One that much anyway.

I had the xbox and xbox360.
And currently I am planning to get xbone. Just not sure when cause it is little over the budget for me. Also, I have to look farther into what people are complaining about. Some of the issues I've read on this site don't concern me persnally.

I had ps and ps2 but not ps3. Not planning to get ps4. I've had too many issues with Sony products.

to say that sony cares more for gamers is a big fat joke. It really makes me LOL. Does it make you sony lovers feel all warm and fuzzy inside? do you feel loved? ha
remember ps3 when it first came out?

I don't think one company loves gamers more than another. they both care deeply about making money. I'm sure when microsoft realize (sooner or later) that gamers don't feel loved by them and hurts their pocket, they will do whatever it takes to make you all feel nice and warm.

I'm glad he stopped answering you because you make so little sense.

He is interested in MS' games but they are not allowing him to because they dip into what he considers to be unacceptably bad practices. The guy says to have spent thousands of dollars in xbox games and I would be ready to believe him. If that were the case, then I understand him being upset about the situation given that he actually WANTS  to buy the games but he can't as it goes against his principles.

I'm pretty sure he's aware that he can boycott, which he is doing, but it doesn't change the fact that, to him, MS has the option to not go anti-consumerist and allow him to buy the games they make that he enjoys. That's what he means by basic consumer right, the right to have ownership of the content you purchase. They are not letting him have that basic right though he wants to buy their games.

You're the one making little sense.

He still has the option to play and enjoy Xbox One games. But if going digital is a deal breaker for him, too bad.

MS meeting his needs is not his basic consumer right.

nope
(if you haven't noticed I reply like that to posts which I find unintelligent)

It is disingenuous of a company to claim that they are selling a game to you which, in reality, they are only loaning to you. You can think it's just his preference, but you have no knowledge of consumer rights. It's also your choice to pay for a product that is marketted by false advertisement that doesn't make it good.

Since there has been so much hate lately I have sided with Microsoft, but don't come tell me that the guy is in the wrong to call DRM anti-consumerist.

MS has made it clear you're buying a license key and that gives you access to the game. The disc is basically just the install. Clearly you don't have an understanding of what false advertisement is. I didn't see people getting this worked up when we saw these same practices in PC gaming.

(If you haven't noticed you're clearly getting upset because I don't agree with your point of views. Personal attacks are going to change my mind.)

I have a 360. Never owned a playstation before. MS pushed me to cancel plans to buy X1 and purchase PS4 instead.

at lease MS did make online mulitiplayer "better"....and making you pay for it.

MS is so evil, even Bill Gates doesn't anything to do with them...

Where's the I loved Xbox 360 and not getting an xbox one option?

I'm glade op's true colors came out... Now all his posts will be irrelevant

Hey, I'm not pretending! I've been complaining about the same things on PC for years already! And I've also been complaining (albeit not that much) about Sony's tight activation limits on the PS3! And let's not go to XLB subscriptions. So there you go!

...Kinda strange how I'm telling you about the things I've been complaining. Oh well.

the past 2 gens, I have bought a secondary console to complement my Nintendo console, but I'm giving it a miss this time, and using the cash to further upgrade my PC (unless the Steambox wins me over).

Not "pretending" to care about consumer rights, but come on; I don't have to bend over and take one for the team if a product or service that's being put out there for me to pay for as a consumer sets rules or restrictions that I don't feel obligated to go along with by giving them my business. Especially when there's no monopoly and other options are available.

As it stands, the XB1 is not worth my $500 at launch. Like many later adopters, I'll just wait until the price is lower relative to the software that's available and that's pending a situation where I really feel obligated to play whatever titles are available that simply aren't being published on any other platform. It won't become my "living room hub" which means I probably won't bother with an XBLG subscription, which would limit the console's usefulness to a basic single player game console. And that's all I want from the XB.

I'm actually thinking of getting one, despite the consumer problems. However, the problems that exist ARE really bad.
It all depends on this library sharing thing. Support ten friends, and I'll buy it.
It's basically legal piracy.

Please, you are so full of it. There's no way ever you are getting a XboxOne.

ah lol.

I love when they do that... Like it will make their statements more credible :)

Just because I'm a playstation fan doesn't make me a liar.

Perhaps you di dnt read my postsin the ms vonference thread. I think it has a lot of potential, but the news since then has been dire and I'm not going to sugar coat it. Consumer wise, it's disgusting. However, there is still plenty of time for them to fix this. The kind of sharing they are implying, for one, is extremely consumer friendly, and the snap in feature is onderful. Sorry you can't see the truth for what it is, an objective critique of the console. If I think something is bad on a console, you can believe that I'm doing my best to be objective, just so long as it isn't a joke thread.I
