Forums - Gaming - Xbox One and PS4 have 'comparable power,' says Watch Dogs producer

obviously...I didn't see anything the PS4 had shown to overshadow the X1's in the visual dept. In reallity the X1 games looked sharper and better IMHO!!!

Is the PS4 more powerful. Yes
Will there be an appreciable difference between the two. No
Has any one ever stated the PS4 would be an order of magnitude more powerful than XBox One. No
Should the link be regarded as suspicious and probably embellished to generate hits. Yes

I'm not sure that's a fair comparison, 7770 is severly gimped.

I think it is a fair comparison.

PS4's GPU has slightly better GPU than 7850, pixell/texel fill rates are similar to 7850, but it has more TFLOPS and higher bandwidth.

XOne's GPU performs close to 7770, although it has 2 more CUs, but at lower clock rate - it actually has slightly less TFLOPS than 7770.

Both GPU's have their own customizations, but comparison of vanilla 7850 and 7770 is pretty good starting point.

Unless, of course, MS surprises us all and it's something more similar to 7790 inside.

The actual big difference comes from the memory bandwidth though, 7770 is a 128bit part while the 7850 is 256bit, that's where the performance would change in the Xbox One, make no mistake, I don't think the One is faster than the PS4 at all, I'm just saying that the 7770 is serverly gimped ^_^; The 7850 is very close to what the PS4 has though, even down to the amount of bandwidth for GPU tasks as the rest are needed by the CPU.

No, the One-PS4 are much closer than 360-PS3. The PS3 has BluRay, a GPU one year advanced and a kick-ass CPU.

So, I would love to know how you are a such a expertise in hardware.

Are you a game developer? Are you a hardware engeneer?

The GPU in the PS3 is well known to be inferior to the GPU in the Xbox 360, and Blu-Ray has very little impact on the graphical quality of a game.

I'm neither, but a little internet research will tell you all you need to know.

If PS4 is 50% more powerful don't expect to see much difference between the two. Xbox was 2x more powerful than PS2 and I don't remember it blowing PS2 out of the water.

You obviously dont remember Splinter Cell. Night and day. The original Xbox ran laps around the PS2.

Resident Evil 4.

7770 has 72GB/s, XOne's main memory is 68.3GB/s - additional XOne's enhancements will certainly boost performance of its GPU, but so will additional enhancements in PS4's GPU. Hence, I think 7850vs7770 comparison is fair starting point.

Well, about everything in this world is comparable; so they are right.

The problem with your number is that you are not taking in account of the eSRAM(very low latency) which has a higher bandwidth than the gimp one in the 7770 on top of other possible enhancements and that the DDR3 has a lower latency than GDDR5. I'm just trying to be fair. :P

I know Uncharted 2,3, TLOU and GoW3 look good but has everybody forgotten how good Gears of War 3 and Halo 4 look? Honestly there isn't that much difference. It will be similar this gen.

Honestly, and you have to consider how much of a bigger game Halo 4 was. I love to see something like forge being implemented into any of the games i bolded and still have the same visual fidelity.

...and Halo 4 was a mediocre game.

Sorry for bad English.

well i'm still trying to figureout whether Wiiu is more or less powerful then PS360, considering the conflicting stories on that front.
