Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft looking into playing games offline on Xbox One

Oh, please, please. Please do this. The only thing keeping me from purchasing an Xbox One is the 24hours check. :(

DRM is the major issue for me anyways and it is simply too late.  Microsoft pulled a lot of shiss already with this console. I've moved on and am going Ps4Wiiu this gen exclusively.   In the future if Sony gets arrogant again and Microsoft is more welcoming and consumer friendly I might switch back. But not this gen.

that would be the only way i could buy a Xbox One so they should do.

I have a question with this 24 hr thing. What if I leave my xbox unplugged or turned off for weeks? what happens than? Cause i do not play console games every day and during school i don't play video games period since i live away from home.

Nothing really.
If you want to play again though, the first thing you'd have to do is connecting it to the internet.

I don't really think this would happen. Microsoft and there whole team definitely thought of this already, doesn't steam have an offline mode? Microsoft chose this route.

Xbox One will mainly sell to US consumers. Once it hits that magical price point in 3-4 years it will take off. If they allow it to play offline with the disc inserted (which they should anyways) that will mostly help with sales outside of the US. Either way Xbox One will sell fine but I'm predicting 80-90 mil PS4 and 45-50 mil Xbox One if they don't implement any offline option. If they do then 60-70 mil.

I highly doubt they'll actually pursue this. At least not before launch. If sales are bad enough, then they MIGHT change their policy. Of course, even if they did away with the 24 hr check-in, I highly doubt they'll do away with their mandatory registration of every game and their used game policy, since I'm sure they've spent quite a bit of money setting up the network to handle it.

And one very important thing this won't address is always online games. MS is really pushing for cloud offloading in their games, even single player ones. If a lot of their big games require the cloud, it doesn't matter about the 24 hr check in, as you'll have to be always online, anyway.

still the price is high they should fix this too.

Why put this silly policy in there in the 1st place. Just have a simple play it from disc just like every other console!

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

Just like the last time MS said "we hear you". lmao.

8 months ago, I defended and gave the benefit of the doubt to MS when the rumours surfaced. I was on the forums telling everyone that they don't need to worry. MS is not stupid. They know what they're doing. I weathered the fanboy abuse and now this..... It was a huge let down.

5 months to make things right MS.
