An insert disc to play option would work, I can't see why they can't. It would be a backwards step though in the direction they want to take.

Sounds like PC gaming from the 90s.  The insert disc to play game even though game is pretty much loaded onto your computer.  I see no reason why they can't at least implement this option for those that don't want the 24 hour check in.

It does and now most of people have there PC's connected 24/7 you'd think. MS could do this then just lure people in... I mean Xbox LIVE has nearly 50 million members and once online already, the advantages are plenty. Especially this game sharing feature.

I think it should have an offline mode where you can play just on the console with your disk as described. Seems like a rather good compromise.

Most of the time it wouldn't matter, but if someone is away from the next, or hit by a storm, it would be nice to be able to stay offline and play in the old fashioned way. (old fashioned, I'm calling Blu-rays old, fashion, but you know what I mean.)

This would solve many of the complains by active duty soldiers too.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

The gamers are forcing MS to rethink every single decision they've made pertaining to gaming on the XBone. They wont get rid of everything but they are back peddling a bit which shows some signs of progress. The Family plan is just one outcry to their gamers.

the technology isn't there yet.

I'll believe when I see it(or when it's confirmed)

I think I'd actually opt for the cloud if given the choice. I think the convenience of being able to share games with anyone, anywhere beats out swapping game discs, then having your careless friend or family member returned it scratched!

I don't understand how opening your console to more consumers is a backwards step. If anything this should've been included in the first place.

I meant a backwards step in terms of the direction the company wants to take. The Xbox ONE will still sell, we here on the forums are the minority. I agree though, they should open up the console a bit more.

$499 isn't the best price point.  It won't sell too well till it gets down to ~300.  It will sell through the initial buyers but mass consumers won't drop 500 on a video game system.

A video game system? We're on VGC talking about the Xbox ONE. It's a VCR, DVR, SPY box, Kinect Box... Lol!

I agree though.
