Sounds like PC gaming from the 90s.  The insert disc to play game even though game is pretty much loaded onto your computer.  I see no reason why they can't at least implement this option for those that don't want the 24 hour check in. 

It does and now most of people have there PC's connected 24/7 you'd think. MS could do this then just lure people in... I mean Xbox LIVE has nearly 50 million members and once online already, the advantages are plenty. Especially this game sharing feature.
