Forums - Microsoft - Xbox One Surprises Witcher Dev, Skips Poland At Launch

Strange that the only Eastern European country in the list of 21 supported countries so far is Russia, but no Poland, no Czech Rep, no Hungary. And not even Portugal or Greece.

Most likely the list will grow significantly until launch, they are just unsure about the timeline at this point so they don't want to over-promise.

whos turf is Poland? Sony M$ or Nintendo?

From what I've gathered, it's largely a bit of a wasteland. You have a relatively poor population combined with higher than US prices with the exception of retail PC games. Piracy is fairly common, and many games are simply never physically brought into the country. At this point, the first company that manages to introduce digital games for a low price, even lower than Steam's, will likely be victorious.

well, did he expect that the console will release everywhere with only a limited number of units? it will release in poland but not day one. does his game release day one? if not, why does he think xbox won't be available in poland when the game releases? did he forget that people in poland can't play his game on xbox one if he doesn't release it?

ps4 and xbox one will probably not release in japan day one but we may get a japanese game day one. so, a japanese have to import a ps4. doesn't sound much better (but it is better)

AFAIK Nintendo isn't that important in Poland. Sony and MS are represented better, but ultimately PC gaming takes the cake there.

EDIT: Can only tell you what a Polish friend told me, though.

I'm sure the list will grow to include countries like Poland before the release happens with more countries following suit sometime in 2014.

they must have a really small yield if they feel the need to skip out parts of europe? Or maybe its a legal thing to do with the X1's features... Either way it is fairly weird.

It's gonna be hilarious when microsoft pours tons of $ into getting all these xbone live servers up, & then no one goes out and buys the console. If i were micro, i'd start scaling back my plans right about now, they're gonna be in for a very tough ride.

Well, just ask yourselves:

Why on earth would Adam Orth wanna live in Poland? (or any other of the 170 countries of the world where the Xbone simply won't work, no matter if reliable internet is available or not?)

PC, and the console which is most easily pirated/cheapest.

38 million people, 22nd country in the world for GDP ahead of Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Switzerland, Austria, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Ireland. Poor wasteland indeed.
