Would people complain this much if the Xbox One just went all digital?

The discs just save time compared to downloading games.

All Digital is EXACTLY WHAT MICROSOFT WANTS. No used games, automatic DRM, AND the Steam Aura Of Invincibility on bad press related to those two.

I agree, MS wants all digital and we all know this is a direction the industry has been going.

I doubt Sony is opposed to going all digital. Remember the PSP Go?

Remember how hard this thing bombed? I think they learned their lesson.

What was the lesson? Don't make a digital only version of a platform when there is still a physical media version on the market?

Also, the PSN store is lacking noteworthy PSP games and prices were high. We can think of several reasons why PSP Go failed.

You missed the point though. Sony clearly wants to go all digital as well and made a lame attempt at it. MS is making a more ambitious effort to go digital.

aye sony risked a spin off remodel of their already 3 year old handheld at the time, Microsoft are putting all their eggs in the one basket, everything they've built on in the last 10 or more years of gaming is all going to die a death before they understand that not everyone who owns a 360 has access to the net on a daily basis or even at all, or that not everyone with a 360 is in america where they are willing to sacrifice a gaming machine in place of a set top box for watching tv with.

I think you're being overly dramatic. Worst case scenario it sells less than the 360 and perhaps loses money.

I'm curious to see if MS makes the hardware competitively priced. If they anticipate selling a 100 million units, it would have to be.

Of the people I know who own a 360 only 1 of the 5 of us has any interest in this next console the way it's looking atm and 2 of the 5 are knocked out of the market anyway because he doesn't have a wired net connection so literally can't use the system. Way I look at it, I have my 360, I have about 150 retail games for it, many more arcade titles, watch my movies on there mostly if I'm in the kitchen doing stuff I can listen to music on youtube with it, it's an all in one entertainment system as it stands.... the Xboxone cannot do a lot of the features I currently enjoy on my system, how is it "the only device you need" even moreso since I read you also need a seperate device to be able to watch cable tv with it + the obvious you need the internet.

The XBONE is going to have control of your tv wathcing through it's HDMI port...So you need cable or satellite service..It's only going to use fetures as they are available...they propose that if you want to watch HBO GO with out turning of your XBONE that will be available....it's not providing cable service it's inking to partened features...

Blah, blah, blah... I'm not interested in your anecdotal evidence or rant. I was just pointing out you're being overly dramatic.

Just because a lot of people have no interest in the Xbox One at launch, doesn't mean they won't develop an interest in the coming years.

None of the 7th gen platforms reached their current userbase over night.

haha, keep those blinkers on as people who literally spend thousands on gaming each year tell you that where they're going with the next gen is not anywhere near my money. But your right it doesn't have to interest you I guess, you have no investment in Microsoft?

Remember I was just pointing out how dramatic you were being. I didn't ask how you and your friends would spend their money. Move along.
